I want to buy a wagon to run errands, to carry people, to do business trips.
> European model.
> It should be less than 10 years old; Not much to do with brands / models though.
> Petrol engine. The common rail Diesel is a recipe for disaster. I spent over 3500$ on my previous MK7 Transit that had a common rail system. Everything is prone to fail, the injectors, the dual mass flywheel, the high pressure pump, everything. I realize the petrol engine will have less torque, and may be more thirsty, but 3500$ can buy me plenty of petrol.
> Around 2.0-2.4L engine.
> Manual (but that's mostly given here. because AT transmission just breaks more easily, and the bigger problem is that these engines are weak for such huge body.)
Price range: 4.000-10.000$
Well, that's it.
What I found...
So far I found these:
> Peugeot 407 SW 2.0
They say the electronics can die anytime, randomly. Not very reliable.
I also saw some not-so-old 407s that were full of rust.
> Citroen C5
No idea.
> Mitsubishi Grandis 2.4
Praised as reliable, though they say it's sluggish and eats a fuckton. The thirst is no issue for me though.
> Mazda 6 Sport 2.0
No idea if it's reliable or whatever. Never had a Mazda. People praise Toyota, but Mazda? Eh?
People seem to like it.

Tbh diesels and autos should be fine provided it's japanese and under 200k km. You take your chances with french/german/brit shitboxes, despite how well they drive.

I never had a problem with my diesel Xsara Picasso, I would actually recommend a pre-2005 one(2 liter engine) for this, quite comfy on the road

That's the problem, most used cars have ~150k km in them already, unless the meter has been tampered with.

I like it. I don't consider it a true blue wagon because of that sliding minivan door. If your in the US they used to have a Hyundai Elantra wagon.

Opel Zafira 2.0L 16V.
Bonus points if you can get one of the OPC 2.0L Turbo variants.
just get an a4 avant

>C-Max Titanium Ultra
Great prices on the Ford crossovers plus they are available with advanced drivetrains like Ford's EcoSense Hybrid technology for the best fuel economy available in a C-segment Crossover Vehicle*. Wow, Ford is really doing it!

Hmm thanks for the tip.

Sounds like you're gonna be making lots of short journeys. If so avoid diesels and turbos.
Also consider something like an old BMW X5?

The repairs would be crazy expensive.
Same reason why I didn't even check Audi/BMW/Mercedes wagons.
They do have power, but first they are designed to break, secondly, every part costs several times as much.
