For the same reason they're not using Lincolns and Cadillacs. There's a cheaper alternative.
>>
my state's highway patrol uses Dodge Chargers
>>
>>16261719
they do and have been for decades. if you're talking about the chrysler marque specifically, its because of the following
chrysler is an 'upscale brand' that focuses on luxury. they dont make any vehicles that are suitable platforms for interceptors.
>>
>>16261728
This. There's thousands of Chargers (and Durangos too) in fleet use.
>>
>>16261733
Purely from a technical standpoint the 300 would be suitable, except that it would still be a waste of money and that they're not offering a law enforcement ready version of it.
>>
>>16261721
makes no sense when all chrysler vehicles share powerplants
>>16261744
the 300 is a landbarge loaded with heavy amenities and complex luxuries that arent necessary when you're converting it to an interceptor
again, its just not suitable
>>
>>16261728
not dodges but Chrysler branded vehicles

>t. Buttfrustrated crisler owner

My girlfriend bought one before we got together. Outside of muh comfort and muh turbo 2.4l it's been a huge POS. Fuck pt cruiser convertables. Also have 2 friends that own a 300 and a dodge suv. Same fucking problems roughly.

Have fun with the loose shit wiring making your lights randomly quit working.

I just had to rebuild the pt engine for a timing belt, and fix the ac hose leak, and the joke engine struts, and the camshaft position sensor for the second time using oem garbage the first time. Seriously, fuck em.

Wouldn't mind wrecking a pickup for the cummins, mate it to 5 or 6 speed from a dorf, in a nice dorf body. But I could always get a dt360 and make better power more reliably.

Chsyler is an upscale luxury brand
They make shit working platforms for interceptors
Thats literally the only reason

chrysler is shit imo but that has nothing to do with why police dont use their cars
>>
>>16261753
It weighs the same as a crown vic, and a charger, they would just have to make a fleet version (which would be stupid because they've already done it to the charger).

Mopar guy here. You get a lot of car for cheap there's just a bit more maintenance required, not unlike owning a German car but simpler and cheaper. A lot of people buy the worst trim of the cheapest models for the styling and of course they have problems with those cars. The GT Cruiser is an anomaly but ultimately dude's girlfriend should have got an srt4
>>
>>16262549
Still has nothing to do with the thread because half of the police fleet is dodges which use chrysler power plants

>Why don't law enforcement ever use vehicles made by Chrysler?
In the inner city areas, traffic and parking enforcement typically uses bicycles and tablets. If a parking meter runs out or a parking lot sensor shows a car there that hasn't paid, the tablet shows a warning light at that location. It also shows indications of soon to expire as well. This helps the officers plan their movements better and get tickets delivered faster. Because of the tablets, officers don't need to criss cross back and forth in a zone but can simply move somewhat in a giant circle. The advantage of this is that criminals find it impossible to predict when a different officer is coming up on them. By having a mix of bicycle officers and cruisers, security was improved a lot once they traffic enforcement officers changed their method of getting the next car to give a ticket to.
>>
>>16262831
Not paying a stupid meter in time, become a "Criminal"
>>
>>16262909
Most of the meters are digital now. They phone home. The better parking areas have a kiosk where you can insert a credit card. The ground has some sort of wire loop to sense your car too. If you drive off the meter resets and so you don't get overcharged. But it also insures that someone can't simply drive into your metered spot and use up the rest of your hour you paid for. Because the loop shows the car left the spot, the parking timer reset to zero and whoever is parked there has to pay.

Automated sensors are in our parking garages and some streets. They keep expanding all the time and are considering a shift to computerized camera technology to watch parking spots instead of ground loops.

Don’t you hate it when you’ve bragged to your friends for months about the brawny V8 engine in your Ram 1500, only to check the oil one day and discover it’s a V6? That’s the joke Fiat Chrysler Automobiles accidentally played after a badging mix-up at one of its assembly plants.
>>
>>16265926
He's right, actually. Upscale doesn't mean luxury, it's the slot before luxury. It's what Buick is, and Mercury used to be.

What are you talking about

Consumer Reports keeps on ranking each year's new FCA vehicles at the low end of reliability. The current crop were all at the bottom except for one. So FCA is economizing their production.

>>16265926
In the old days. But FCA changed chrysler further with the Fiat style economics. It's hard to have enough durability to maintain quality as the car becomes older than one years old. The Fiat way when things are too stripped down in the name of efficient profiteering. The cars have no leeway left in them.

>Are cop cars bullet-proof?
Here in Seattle, Washington, they keep quiet about what improvements are made to cop cars. But they do use special armor steel plates and different synthetics in them. And the windows are clearly not all glass and are thicker so they must be somewhat bulletproof.

A black guy arrested for robbing people at gunpoint in the bus got caught by the passengers. It was a real gun and loaded with real bullets as determined by police testing. There were gun owners aboard but they didn't shoot him. They knew how guns worked and managed to grab him and keep the gun from being able to succesfully shoot someone.

As to how this relates to cop cars, he was cuffed and detained a police car. He then laid down on the seat and began to use leverage to try to kick out the door window. This was a car that didn't have bars guarding the interior windows. The guy was unable to break the window out. The prisoner was full of anger at being caught and finally had to be hogtied in the back of the police car.

At the court arraignment, the mother pleaded with the judge that he was good boy and didn't shoot anyone on the bus. It was pointed out though that the gun was loaded and a bullet was chambered and it had been aimed at people. That no bullets actually hit people was not due to him shooting to miss, but because the passengers had grabbed his gun hand and gun arm to aim it away from anyone.
