Hey /o/, How do I learn the mechanics of a car? Is there a book or something I could get? How did you learn? Thanks in advance

Step 1: get car
Step 2: shit on car will break
Step 3: figure out how to fix it with internet/books
Step 4: learn mechanics of car
Get a Chiltons/Haynes manual for whatever car you have. Problem is the bus company isn't going to let you near the internals.

Modern Automotive Technology text book is what they gave me back in high school. It's bretty useful, you could get an old used edition which I bet is still relevant

I got in with the local shop when I was 15 and was basically the shop bitch for a few years.
Then, working on my parents' garbage piles, watch my dad flop around on simple jobs and figure out what he did wrong.
Tl;DR by wrenching on stuff.

This in general. You just have to remember. Cars don't run on magic. It's all math, physics, engineering, and chemistry.
Personally, I learned a lot from my father who was a diesel mechanic for the US army. Not everyone has this advantage though.
