It really doesn't mean much unless you also talk about polar moments. That affects how easily the car rotates and keeps rotating. Same goes for motorcycles and "flickability".

Holy shit are there really 80/20 cars? That seems incredibly unsafe
>>
>>16259976
Doubt it. I think the Honda Accord Coupe has something like 63/37 though, which is the inverse of a 911.

Go read this, then come back: http://automotivethinker.com/chassis/stop-and-weight-a-5050-weight-distribution-is-not-optimal/

>>16259964
Dynamic weight distribution is more important than static weight distribution, especially when the latter is measured using corner weights. Mass centralisation trumps mass distribution in terms of performance.

>>16259976
Not that unsafe when you have 100% of your drive power going to the front wheels - it also keeps that rear mass from trying to overtake you during braking.

Why would anyone want a 50/50 car that can't rotate?

>The corner weight shown above shows 55.9% weight over the front axles

It's clearly not ideal for fun.

Drifting

A car with rear-bias has more inertia in the rear when going around a corner, and will want to "snap" oversteer. More weight up front means the transition from grip to drift is progressive and easier to control.
>>
>>16259944
You can have 50/50 with center focus and extremites focus.

Since the center of rotation is aligned with the rear axle, having the weight further back is actually beneficial.

Why other makes haven't released rear engined designs is beyond me.
