It's a single. It's shit for roads because it has low power and vibrates like crazy, and it's shit for dirt because it's pigfat.

Instead of taking the best from each category it took the worst and combined them into one shitbike.

should have mentioned that I wanted a kick start. Can you get the DR-Z with a kick start that is also street legal?

you can get kits for that

The XR400R is slightly heavier than the DRZ400E, the comparable model, even though the DRZ400 has a starter motor. The DRZ would be lighter with a kicker kit.

Neither is street legal and will gain about the same amount of weight if you plate them

The DRZ400 is more popular and parts are cheap, if you ever need them. It's a no brainer.

Honda a shit.

slovenia is AMAZING.
i can only recommend it. is it better for bike trips than Austria, i dont know. depens on what you want. Slovenia is cheaper, they have a lot of fun gravel roads, and people are friendly. Austria has better twisty roads overall im pretty sure. couldnt really say on whats better, when we make bike trips we usually ride around in Austria, then go to Slovenia or Italy as well.

also, for all my german friends, youtube finally unlocked the slovenia bike trip video a friend of mine made when we did that trip

Man, this is so upsetting. I was certain the DRZ400 SM was going to be the perfect starter bike for me: cheap, reliable, not too fast and no big deal if I dropped it. Now, after all the memeing, I don't even know what to believe. All the other research I've done seems to show that it is indeed a durable bike, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm getting trolled to hell and back by some fellas on /dbt/.

Singles are good for dirt. Longer spaces between firing pulses let's the tire get better traction, like backwards abs. That's why most any bike designed to go offroad will have 1 or two cylinders

Yeah, they keep cities clear of snow too, but if you live in a rural location like I, its often up to locals themselves to clear the roads.

But even if I lived in the city, I wouldnt take my bike out in the winter. They spray salt all over the roads to prevent ice and that will fucking wreck your bike. Corrosion and electrical issues will be the result.

notes: doesn't save you from locking up either wheel by grabbing a fistfull of brake, just makes it worse when you do that. sole purpose is to slightly reduce braking distances for idiots and make bikes impossible to ride at moderate speed on manicured dirt roads.

The DRZ is actually terrible. Its only redeeming quality is a factory supermoto option for fags that can't afford/do a supermoto conversion themselves.

Nobody likes it, but the same couple of fags keep spamming threads to death so they can make new ones with DRZs in the OP. They do this because they regret their purchase.

It's one guy that spams the shit out of the bike.. Seems like he's asleep rn, so just be an ausfag.
I'm also new to motorbikes, and I'm thinking of getting one to start on, just because what I've been reading here and elsewhere is that it's built like a tank and easy to work on. The fact that it's slow and shit to most people is something that appeals to me, since I just want to learn how to handle a bike and maintain one myself. I think if you're a more experienced rider it turns into a bit of a meme bike that doesn't offer much.
