So I found a good deal on a Honda prelude and I'm grabbing it in about 3 days.
I know there's a common issue with the timing belts and they guzzle oil, but is there anything else I should know? (Care tips, which oil to get etc)
It's not my first vehicle though, I have a bunch of motorbikes that I ride and take apart so I'm not going in completely blind.
I also wanted to do a bit to it, like tuning and modifications. The first thing i want to do is swap out the exhaust (the stock one on this car is really showing it's age) but i don't want any of those annoying fart cans. Anyone here done this and willing to give recommendations?

Get whatever oil, it won't make a difference
You can buy an aftermarket, stock exhaust. Maybe from dynomax or even just your local muffler shop.

Get better cam. Change o rings.
5th gen owner lurking. What year is the one you are considering getting? If fifth gen, the OEM SH exhaust is agressive without being annoying. As far as anything else, be careful the one you are getting has a manual, as the autos are garbage. HOWEVER, even the manuals have a common problem. Spend some time rowing the gears in the Prelude you are looking at, I can't remember what causes it but 5th, reverse, and first will commonly lock out and grind - and once it starts it only gets worse until you begin losing gear all together.

stop. don't even buy a prelude unless it's stock. If it is stock, keep it stock. otherwise go ahead and buy a raped one so you can keep raping it.
