Hey /o/. I'm 26 and I've never bought a car before. The car I've been driving all my life has finally reached the stage where I can't sink any more money into it to have it worked on. Every month now I'm taking it back to my mechanic to be worked on for hundreds of dollars and it's just unmanageable.
So I want to buy a new car. I'm not sure exactly what all the benefits of buying a new versus used car would be aside from a manufacturer warranty. I'm honestly pretty noobish toward cars in general.
I want to buy a car this week (ASAP, anyway). Have virtually no cash, except for a few hundred in the bank, a few hundred in cash, and a moderate credit store. I pull down about $1300/mo at my job.
Can a guy like me get a new car? If so, is it affordable to do so on my wage? I'm not entirely sure how leasing vs financing all works. If there's a handy guide I could read, I'm happy to study to get up to speed.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!

I suggest against buying a new car. You gonna have to drop 3k on another shitter and hope it lasts, meanwhile trying to improve your living wage.

Get a better job man, $1300/month is fucking Taco Bell tier FFS
But you're going to need a car to get a better car, so save up and get a mid to late 90s Corolla for $2000 or less

I will not do this. The only reason I'm done with my current car is because I *need* something reliable to get me to work. I just got a promotion and I cannot afford to be calling out of work regularly because of my shitter car.

I would honestly rather finance a new car so that I can at least have a manufacturer warranty under me in case something goes wrong. I cannot afford to purchase a lemon and be without transportation again.
