I'm having a weird issue with my Ninja 250. Last week it just started bogging down super bad at 6k rpm, only when under load. It will continue to rev up over 6k very slowly but it's way down on power.

It is making about half power over 6k, and the exhaust note is kinda weird, like a puffing/humming sound. Maybe it's running on one cylinder but I can't tell.

If I rev it in neutral or with the clutch in it's just fine thought, sounds normal, revs just as fast as it used to.

It started when I ran the tank to reserve for the first time, so I'm thinking I may have just sucked some shit from the bottom of the tank into the carb and the jet is partially blocked, but I've had that issue before and it was never like this.

Anything I should check before I pull the carb this weekend?

If Pirelli Rosso II had such a warming period, it would be more readily available. Or more people would've crashed. Just WHAT THE FUCK?

I just took it out after I got everything in the papers. Police doesn't physically check your bike, they look at your license, look at your papers and have a good day sir.

Unless you were speeding, then they might get suspicious. But in a standard police control, nah.

Mechanically everything is possible but not ready to buy, that would be too stupid even for the gov.

Feel free, but I'd suggest you ride something used, reliable, and CHEAP for a year or two to learn on and make mistakes with. It'll also be a good way to make sure your riding preferences don't change drastically and leave you stuck with a bike you regret paying so much for. If you choose the bike and deal properly you might even be able to sell a used bike for as much or more than you paid for it even after getting your learning experience out of it.

Once you really know what you're doing and know for sure the bike is what you want, new and truly YOUR baiku will both make sense and be all the more satisfying.

You could machine a block with a pin stop perpendicular to the axis of throttle grip rotation and conceal it in a modified right side handlebar switch cluster.

You could also use a carb solenoid which would stop throttle rotation at a carb rack until powered on, whence the solenoid retracts and gets out of the way.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-46-74

It's a fair amount of design and work but do-able by a dedicated hobbyist.

>>16239690
Got a factory service manual? Not aftermarket. For those sort of jobs a manual promptly pays for itself.

I'd shoot all the wires too. If your connections aren't perfect, do them correctly all the time every time.

An incandescent test light beats a meter for shooting wires because an incandescent bulb is a load. We called them "load lights" in avionics.

To shoot a harness, disconnect everything from the harness so you don't shoot through any components to get a false reading. Supply battery voltage through a fused or breakered test lead to one end of each wire, ground the test light, verify good ground, then probe each wire at a time. If shorts in the bundle are suspected, probe the other wires.
>>
>>16240172
yea if you are going slow as fuck and not expecting the clutch to drop. if it pop starts then you have a starter problem. if it doesn't pop start you have some fuel problem most likely

>>16240190
BTW since you didn't post a pic I don't know your precise connector problem but one way to fix fucked connectors is to buy a good connector and wire in a pigtail which you then splice to your harness. This compensates for wire lost to removing a fucked connector.

Something else worth knowing is if you buy a crimped connector which requires a special crimper, you can get by soldering the connection AND you can de-solder in future if required. Tin the end of your wire after dipping in LIQUID flux. Ensure wire strand will fit inside pin first. Slide tinned wire into pin and heat with a soldering iron from which all removable solder has been wiped off on the damp sponge you prepared for the purpose.

Practice on scrap parts first until you get good, it takes little time. That way you'll know how far back to trim insulation and wire.

Yep. I'd go with one.

Computer and sensor connections also fall victim to small amounts of oxidation, so the WD-40 trick is worth doing to any in the system even if they look good. BTW even computers in a clean environment can develop oxidation on connector interfaces so I reseat things like hard disk connectors before condemning a part.

Make sure all your grounds are good, not just visually. Funky grounds on bikes and cars can be exasperating.

Take written notes.

It's uhh generally the opposite, a late apex is usually designed to get the bike as upright and accelerating as early as possible, it's generally why people late apex the last corner before the main straight.

I would say the most common rider error in terms of line choice is rushing the apex, I can draw you a diagram if you want to know why but suffice to say on the road a late apex is always preferable as it gives you more vision around the corner for oncoming vehicles or upcoming hazards and far more margin for error if you run wide on exit (as you are taking a tight exit line and HAVE space to run off)

>>16239659
>>16239681
is right, training vision is vital and can be done in a parking lot.

Just set up a figure of eight course and go around and around trying to look ahead through the turn and get comfortable, this will help you out with tighter corners as well so it's a double whammy.

If you don't do this I'm also gonna take a shit in your christmas stocking so you better do it.

In this picture I'd call the red one a late apex. Am I wrong?
I don't understand, I think we're saying the same thing, maybe I'm just bad at explaining it.

Th-thanks anon.

Tbh I'm enjoying the shit out of it. Bought it last week, practiced all weekend and used it on my first commute yesterday. I'd been lusting over a bike since I was 10

Help me out here.

wait I think I've figured it out, I think you believe "Apex" means point of turn in, or point of severe turn in.

Apex means when you clip/kiss the inside line of the turn.

What you're talking about is usually just referred to as the turn in point.

Buy an older 650 for dirt cheap. Seriously first gens are going for under 3k cuckbux in my area all the time (Alberta, Canada), won't hurt so bad when you drop it the first time.

Daily reminder to buy gloves that have good scaphoid sliders. I had a pair that used a different material for the slider, almost like a really hard rubber. I highsided and the slider pretty much dug into the asphalt instead of getting the impact off my wrist.

You would need a cock to do that m8

So I tried to picture in my head the way I turn with the car in one of my favourite turns in a roundabout.
Given I'm not remembering this wrong, is this the correct way of taking a turn?

From photos, I just can't love the "bulging seamless front, tiny little rear sticking out" look, plus it looks far too wide for London filtering. Might look better in person though.

has anyone on /dbt/ said that?

the only germs/austrians we have on /dbt/ are utter shitters who run into the side of trucks.

That's it, just gotta roll with the punches.

I fell off doing 80km/h with just textile gear and luckily only suffered a fractured malleolus. Bike fell on ankle when I first "laid her down". Otherwise I was a ragdoll

Rolling breaks bones in extremities like hands wrists, ankles etc. If you have proper gear on you want to lay flat and slide to a stop, preferably before hitting anything other than the ground. If you're not wearing proper gear, you may want to opt for the broken bones as the road rash your going to get is probably going to be more painful over the time it takes to heal.

Sounds like a great way to fuck up your wrists.

I'd rather just slide and let the leathers handle it.

excuse me for poor word choice.

I mean when you first go off don't put you hands out to catch yourself. i more mean come to terms with the fact you are going down and prepare for the fall.
