How about you, and those people you've heard of, put good tires on the car? Even better, learn how to drive. When you start losing control of the car you especially need to remember not to put on the brake. Let off the throttle and correct it. These cars are not powerful enough to get away from you, unless you're running on 9 year old all-seasons that have been made into unequal slicks because of peg leg burnouts.

Other than that, you can always upgrade to a locking carrier. They're not expensive, neither are near stock limited diffs.
Welding is a what you also can do, but I personally don't suggest it. Although these cars don't make a lot of torque, it really is annoying to hear tires skipping on every understeering turn.
