Diesels run cooler and last longer. There's nothing wrong with them.

Don't get a small displacement diesel family....

If you want to get a diesel go for an older Mercedes, Inline 6 BMW diesel, 1.9 TDI, In line 5 2.5 TDI, 2.2 diesel Honda engine, 2.4 diesel volvo, 1.9 Fiat diesel or just one of the big diesel American trucks.
Everything else is unreliable or slow or slow and unreliable.

If you don't want any cars I mentioned don't bother getting a diesel.
