What is a quick and affordable way to do this? Doesn't need to look perfect, just needs to be rust protected and look fine from a few feet away.

Get some kind of filler, fill it out, different grits of sanding paper, sand it out, glossy can paint and paint it out.

Aluminum is the ultimate rust protection op. Just buy some touch up paint or say fuck it.

Its just an aliminum alloy. It won't rust. You could probably touch it up with a shapie since it's so minor.
