What's everyone doing for black Friday? I'm about to go pick up battlefield 1 with a friend, 50% off.
what's a good price for a stable running MR2 SW20 in europe (germany)? I'm hoping to pay like 3500€ and fix lots of stuff myself to save money, but the engine seems hard to work on.

Will soon start working on noise dampening on the interior of my 86. Removing the old, dry and by now useless material will be the most time consuming part. Installing fresh material in the interior and the trunk will be easy.
>>16218273
Towers of Corolla and MR2 are pretty tall already.
Also, Hi Mdnght Lvr.
>>16218523
Stores have started with that shit here in Switzerland too. Pretty pointless though, not like the sale prices are any different from sale prices any other day of the year. Didn't bother going to any stores.
>>16219618
>not having light weight reduction
>>16219681
It's not a racekar, it's meant to be a nimble but decently practical and comfy mountain road cruiser. Also, the exhaust resonates incredibly much with the interior. I will be applying the dampening piece by piece to see where I can get the most efficient use of it, so probably trunk, spare wheel well and center tunnel.
I don't want to remove the exhaust either, since it sounds damn sexy outside the car. Just gets my ears numb after two to three hours of driving.
Aw yiss I'm on the montage

Well if you want a project car, and you're really really really poor than go ahead.. I personally wouldn't do it because it seems like a total headache, especially if it were my daily driver. If it were a drift build, I'd probably pick it up since reliability isn't an issue.

>>16233803
It's probably only really worth anything to you anon. if you really want a new car, you're probably better off fixing the bhg and selling it private party. depending on where you live, you can get a small, but decent chunk of change back.

Parked on grass usually means bad rust, and make sure you do your research, both on what to look for, and what you plan on dropping in. there's probably a reason this thing ended up with no motor.

As long as you buy it and up the power, you're good.
>>16246487
Is the blacktop much better than the regular 4ag?
>>16247670
The blacktop makes more power, has lighter parts and has VVTi, so yeah it is better.
>>16247670
its everything an original NA 4AGE 16v is but upgraded so yes
i mean its not lightyears and bounds above the 16v in power output but its still a sizeable step up.
at first i had a slight bogging issue in the low rpms that was driving me crazy for weeks but finally narrowed it down to a faulty ECU
>>16247738
Have you considered putting some classic Japanese wheels on your car? Like Longchamps, RS Watanabes, SSRs?
>>16247753
i want to get rid of the wheels i have currently becaue i dont like them
my friend has a set of borbet type Cs I can cop for free so I might just go that route for now, if I did end up getting those type of oldschool Japanese wheels later on it would either be watanabes or hayashi Street CRs
>>16247663
Oh, absolutely. I prefer Wangan style racers so turbo would be about the first thing once basic repairs and maintenance are done.
>>16247768
The Borbets will look pretty dece, and I think since you've gone the two tone the Watanabes would look good. If you couldn't find any of those even TE37s would go nicely I think.
>>16247798
I actually like how the Borbets look so I'll probably stick with them for awhile if I do get them, I never really was all that hot on the momo idea wheels that I have currently
I also copped a replica buddy club front spoiler that I have to attach next year

>>16247889
A few pro teams run Rota's. Not that I would necessarily, but It's probably good enough for the street. what are the chances of being one of the few quality control out liars? probably worth the price desu.
>>16247955
Not considering how they look. Steelies are infinitely more attractive.
>>16247987

Just picked up the car. Runs perfectly, is very very stable and the interiors are like new. Sadly the previous owner (girl) obviously didn't know how to park and there are paint damages all over the car. Some are fixable and some are heavy require professional work (I'm kinda mad but whatever, it was just 5k euros). Also one of the sideskirts needs to be repaired/repainted.
Anyway, I always drove diesels, the motors is sporty but I don't kinda know how to properly drive it and get the full output, any advices? Should I shift at the 6-7000 rpm mark or what?

I'm totally gutted here, contemplating seamwelding everything but I have no cherry picker to remove the engine.
I'm honestly at a crossroads; to sell the car or continue sinking more money into her.
>>16264517
Honestly, you've been contemplating selling the 86 for a while now right? I think you either need a long term plan for it that'll get you excited about it. If you can't get excited about her anymore then it might be time to let her go.
As far as shitty vehicular investments go though, the meme value of the 86 will probably keep going up.

1997 Lexus SC400
Any mk4 supra experts here? Why are s2 supras so much more expensive and sought after than an equivalent s1 supra? The difference in price between a s1 rz and a s2 rz-s is 10k and I don't get why. Aren't the only differences cosmetic?
"still hunting the ads for an older Lexus" Sunday. I hope I can find one that's decent mileage, condition and looks and reasonable close until the end of the year.
>>16264943
The only differences are fucking everything
>>16264943
besides cosmetic, s2 introduced the first NA's with the v160. 2nd gear synchro stronger in the v160. OBDII introduced. srs airbag standard.
>>16264943
whats an s2/s1 supra.
>>16264969
Yeah nah. From what I've read they're quite similar. The main differences are vvti on the s2, slightly different gear ratios in the v161, a03b diff in s2 instead of b03b, headlights, tail lights, front bumper, and sideskirts. So in my opinion, they're pretty much the same car with the s2 having cosmetic upgrades.
>>16264988
Yeah all that's true. Still can't work out why there is such a massive price difference but. >>16264995
Series 1 and series 2. Series 1 is 93-96 and series 2 is 96-02. Not many mechanical differences, a few cosmetic differences and a massive price difference.
>>16265059
hard to tell with price judging off badges, too many people dont understand what an RZ is. no your NA automatic isnt an rz,
>>16265059
vvti didnt come until 97+, first s2's still had the regular gte, was still the v160 until 97 too. sideskirts are the same, only front bumper differences are the indicator / park light assmeblies. B03b is actually a better diff, 8 inch instead of a 7 inch crown wheel, but the diff options are a mystery to me. euro spec s2's had glass headlights otherwise the were the same i think. s2 tail light insides look alot better.

True, I forgot they made some s2 with the v160/non vvti. You're right about the side skirts, for some reason I was thinking the s2 got the aero ones from factory but that's wrong. s2 headlight insides are painted dark grey.
Nice supra btw. What are the specs of those wheels? I haven't been able to figure out what offset to run yet, so I haven't been able to get rid of the shit rims mine currently has.
>>16230875
I would trade for similar to my old '88 Corolla GTS in a heartbeat. It's such a nice car.
>>16265481
I put it above cuz I don't wanna scratch my paint
>>16255284
Dem city lights..
>>16264936
Thanks for participating anon
>>16267222
thanks. wheels are:
18x9 +30
18x10 +38
set pretty well, not flush or anything but no scrubbing on standard guards and easily fit good tyres.
>>16265070
since ive posted it i may as well enter the montage. its a 1996. here is the clock and the keys, hopefully acceptable proof.
>>16270271
Take a pic of the keys on the cluster gauge
Got like 100 feet down the road before I spun on the first turn. Maybe it's time to put the winter on.
>>16271714
On summer tires too?
>>16268094
Thanks. You were able to fix that dent on your doors yeah?
Totalled a Lexus, just bought a new Toyota.
YEHH BUDDY
>>16275227
Congrats anon. Story on the Lexus?
how to make my 5th gen celica 2.2 5sfe NOT slow?
Hey guys looking to purchase an LS300 soon. They seem pretty nice outside and seem to have a lot of aftermarket which is always nice. How is the engine in terms of reliabilty/potential. Also any tips for what to look out for would be fantastic.
>>16270595
Roommate got a 2006 Camry with the 2.4 2AZ-FE. Anything he should be aware of on these? Sitting at around 170k miles.
Hey /tg/, so I spotted this
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?sourceContext=undefined#listing=161119261
Long story short, I have enough money to buy it with a very small loan(below $1000) and I am in need of a new car
I'm buying one for the first time instead of repairing my hand-me-down honda that's been beaten to death
Think I should go for it?
>>16265070
Thanks for your contribution anon
>>16276171
Not a gt-s, 5k
Just look on Craigslist for a gt-s, it will be a lot cheaper than a dealer.
>>16272634
Like 2 incredibly dry rotted winters and two sort of shredded summers. I have new tires in my garage, but no time.
bump
Just thought I'd drop this off here.

Cringed at the lights but lol'd at the shifter

Absolutely disgusting
Bump

Ive driven a 08 tundra for work and have a had a fantastic experience with it. For a personal vehicle i'm looking for a tacoma, is there anything to expect mechanically with the first gen tacomas or are they as bulletproof as the tundras?
>>16276171
I have a 2002 Celica GT. I love it. It's not the fastest thing on the road, but it'll do 110 if it wants to. It handles like its on rails. I think they are great looking inside and out.
Only you can decide if you want to go for it.
But, if / when its time to look at another daily driver, I will certainly look at 7th gen Celica's.
Most reliable car I've ever had.
>>16283956
More or less, expect rust and leaks. 4runners are good too.
Cressida got an alignment that was much needed today! Gotta love work perks like using the shop when it's 30 degrees out. Still haven't installed my s14 springs. Also need to find a set of the smaller Japanese/Australian market bumpers. But I did do the top end gaskets, water pump, belts and other fluids/filters and now she's running like a champ with no leaks!
>>16284298
I know those perks second degree.
My bro works at a dealership, he recently installed the new parking brake cables on my car and when he was done he said he half regrets selling it to me lol
>>16233239
I just finished a head gasket on mine.
IMO keep it, it actually wasnt that hard and only took me like 3 days only annoying thing was timing but uf you have the manual it should be fine
Toyota Yaris or Honda fit?
>>16286690
Fit if manual
Yaris if auto
>>16284342
What kind of gas mileage are you getting with your 7m. I was getting single digits until I did my tuneup and o2 sensor now I'm hitting 20-25mpg with a good mix of highway and city romping.
>>16219000
Go for a bmw or a merc there reichman
>>16287567

im looking for a fun weekend and track toy, should i an sw20? And if so should i an turbo?
Only got a budget of a grand or 2 so it's going to have over 100k miles and be a bit messy.
>>16288825
For 2 grand, you might be better with an aw11. Where I live sw20's are more expensive.
Also, I know this is a Toyota general, but you might want to consider an 88 fiero formula v6 notchback.
88s had different suspension, the formula notchback was the lightest configuration, and the v6 was the better motor. Nobody buys fieros except old people and half of them don't make enough power to get out of their own way so insurance is cheap and they're pretty cheap as well.
>>16288847
I'm in the uk and here aw11's are more expensive than sw20's. Also because uk we didn't get the fiero.
Cheap sporty cars that arn't fwd hatchbacks are hard to find here
>>16218273
Not a single Sequoia...
Hey guys, I might be in the market for a new car there's a celica in my area but it's a 2000. What's the likelihood that it will have the oil burning defect? From what I hear it effects pretty much all of them but some guys with GTS' say that they've never had the problem. The model is a GT but I just wanted you guys' input.
Some guy with a trail blazer just told me
>nice car buddy, you don't see many of these anymore
As I was getting in my mk3 from vatozone
>>16289172
The only Mk3s I see are two broken down ones. Feels bad man.
>>16289191

Shiiiiiieeeeeeet
>>16289221
The other one is in even worse shape. Covered in shit in somebody's driveway.
First time getting this turd mobile washed. Hopefully fender skirts will be fine
>>16289806

Going to see a 95 sr5 4runner tomorrow. Here's hoping for no gasket problems.
>>16289221
Mine is fucked too, they all are.
>>16289806
Your window seals didn't leak at the Targa top? lucky, Mine give way under high pressure from the car wash. I usually do coin op anyway though.
Gonna get rust repair dune in the summer then have somebody polish my clear coat.
MR2 reporting in. I would go take a new picture but my paint ruined in a storm.
>>16290674
