Aim for as high an interest rate as possible.

Higher interest means that the dealership has more interest in the car, which will save you huge money down the road in maintenance and depreciation.

Also, less cash down is ideal since you want all your money to be right-side up, not upside down.

Negotiate the trade AFTER the new car. So many salesmen like to try and act as if your trade is somehow a discount on the new car and most people fall for it. see it all the time where they won't budge on the price because "well we already gave $2000 off for your trade" which is complete bull shit.

I took a test drive, it made rattling noises.
