what should i actually start on?
i dont even know what bikes i can get under 47bhp.
should i start off on a dirtbike or somthing?
i dont even know what gear would be good for starting with.

every state is different, but new york

motorcycle permit when you're 16-17 (consists of a 20 question test, costs $40) lets you practice with a licensed rider

license when you're 18 consists of a small bullshit practical course, or you can take a 3 day course (msf, $300) that teaches you the basics of riding

then you can get anything you'd want.

drz400sm/xt660x looks like a nice bike too if you want more of a motard. sv650 is a great bike
