It's faster to get through if you get bored with 3rd-4th stage, the art gets shittier in both cases. All the changes First Stage makes to the manga are sensible, like rearranging the races, the filler in Shingo's arc and elevating the hype by making the same match a proper Saturday night 10 PM battle. I haven't compared them past that, but First Stage is so good you might as well both watch and read it, though I recommend seeing the anime first so you'll won't be confused by the crummy translation at times.

The R33 had fundamental engineering problems which gave it much more understeer in all situations. I forget the word but I think the engineers placed the components in a way that was bad for the center of gravity.

The r34 however was designed, from a chasis standpoint, to be much more nimble even though it is a larger sport car. The fancy awd computers helped too

The R33 corrected a ton of weight distribution and aero problems in the R32. Whatever issues were there were still present on the R34. The R35 is where it was truly zero front lift and 52/48 instead of 55/45.

The R33 and R34 are very much comparable but the aero of the R34 is better due to the front and rear diffuser. The R34 also has improved rigidity. The R33 by comparison lacks rigidity and downforce but can be upgraded with bracing bars and the R34 diffuser bolts right onto the R33 because the cars are so similar. The seats, steering wheel + airbag, brakes, and a number of chassis elements are all shared across the R33 and R34.

The R33 and R34 GT-Rs are more similar than different. People just got used to the R33 GT-R. If Nissan had released the R34 from the start you would've seen all the same complaints about how much weight it gained relative to the R32.
