Yo, /o/, picked up an 85 MR2 about a month ago. Just had a couple cylinders stop firing, found out it was the dizzy cap. You think I need to replace the whole thing considering the wear, or could I be fine with just the cap?

You should always do a cap and rotor as a set.
If the car is new to you, I'd do igniter, rotor, cap, wires, and plugs, just to be on top of things. It's cheap anyways.

Cool, sounds good. Looks like it's only gonna be like $25 for both... Was thinking more because parts jews.

Distributor parts are cheap as hell unless they aren't made anymore.
Do ignitor, plugs, and wires too.

What the fuck is an ignitor? Do you mean ignition coil?
>>16179862
Holy shit that's clean. About to pick up an '85 as well. Anything to look out for before buying?

It's not as clean as it looks. Just the usual stuff. Floorboards, wheels wells, rockers, etc. Also especially engine stuff, leaks etc, that gets pricey fast. This one does have a coolant and oil leak, sadly, as well as rusty wheel wells and floorboards ;) Gonna fix it all up this winter and maybe MK1.5 swap next winter. I just drove a friend's MK1.5 and it's just way too fun.

fuck that's clean
literally breathtaking
I didn't breath for 15 seconds

Ignition control modules are called ignitors.
The aw11 doesn't use one but it is a proper term.

Means your distributor will go out in a couple months. Buy one on eBay for 100$, happened to me. I was file with the plugs cap rotor spark plug leads and whatever else for like 3 months and the dizzy shit itself later
