a while back i was unemployed for a few months. finally found a job and had to get TB shot along with drug test. While driving and looking for the god damn hidden clinic, i was pulled over.

>cop: license and registration please
>me: may i know why you pulled me over?
>cop: because you were holding your phone. I understand it was at the stoplight but it's still illegal.

I tried to explain the story, and even had the documentation along with google map on active on my phone at the time, but nope, still ended up with a $95 ticket for holding a god damn cell phone at the stoplight. Mind you, i was driving a completely stock Subaru Forester, no there was no other reason to pull me over.

fucking bad pig, absolutely no compassion for his fellow citizens.

Over here, the speeding ticket is pretty tame all the way up to 80. It then takes a huge jump. Another jump at 90 since that is reckless ticket now.

>>
>>16179340
>How do you guys even get caught?
Because we have cops assigned to general patrol (which includes traffic duty). However, the vast majority of our cops will not pull you over for small cases of speeding or whatnot. That's because they are handling calls or other cases and the delay time to pull you over and ticket you will create unhappiness with whoever is waiting for the officer to show up.

So many of the cops on our roads are sort of safe to speed a little bit.

Oh yeah mine was overpriced to shit but I fell in love with it when I first got in and just had to own it that day.
Everything's OEM (I have a fucking stock exhaust!) and it had 115k miles when I bought it. Pretty good for a 21 year old integra imo. Unfortunately I got into a bidding war with another guy over it and ended up forking 5k over

So basically I have to hire a lawyer for $800 and go to court where the cop doesn't even show up. The judge reduces the citation to 3 points and I have to waste a weekend at a useless defensive driving class.

I've met plenty of decent cops, but the asshole I dealt with gives them all a bad name. I seriously hope he gets kicked off the force.

Naw. Local court, he had me dead to rights, it was only $76, and I had someplace to be on the court date.

The general understanding is that the law is made by the out of touch burgeoise, with the support of jews in the treasury who say they need more money and panicky concerned mothers who don't know shit but feel uneasy anyways, so the cops ignore the letter of the law and enforce the spirit of it (ie: let people use phones at stoplights, throw the book at them if they do it while driving, allow variance in the speed limit)

The law is seriously hot garbage. Having human police officers is an informal check on this major flaw of a representative democracy. You can not mediate the insane ramblings of lawmakers otherwise unless violence and intimidation on the part of civillian mobs and militias comes into play - or if you somehow violate thousands of years of social convention and force the ruling elite to live average lives at their state's median income.

When the police don't uphold this unspoken agreement, they're said to be morons, bastards, and revenue raisers. And then they wonder why a bunch of people ranging from dumb shit thieving niggers to well-off yuppies who have never comitted an offense more serious than unpaid parking and speedign in their lives have no qualms with telling them that the world would be better off if they died.

Why the fuck is using the cell phone at a stop light illegal, again?

I'm all for banning the use of the fucking things when the car's in motion, but when at a light, not moving, and not about to move for a couple minutes?

>>16180236
if youre texting at a light, theres a large likelihood you wont finish your message and will continue texting when the light is green. or, conversely if you do finish, ppl will then fuck around and go on fb, and inevitably wont see the light turn green and sit there for 5 seconds before realzing its green. i want to drown a puppy everytime this happens, i swear to god at every red light people HAVE to pull out there phone. just fucking put it down for 15 minutes while you drive around in a two ton steal missle u fucking dumb bitch

I point out that 3 semis pass me while he's issuing me a ticket. He tells me that if he wasn't giving me a ticket he'd be giving them a ticket.
Luckily my work covered for that because i wouldn't have been off a trucking route if it weren't for the customer. Not too long ago I was issued another ticket for going through a YELLOW light in the same city. I put in a dispute for the ticket because getting a ticket on a fucking yellow light is complete bullshit, especially when they didn't even put down which intersection it was in. I figured i got pulled over because I was near the scales and it was the end of the month and 5 ton drivers seem to be an easy target.

>>
>>16180502
Nigga what part of facing the consequences of your actions do you not understand?
>>
>>16180491
Not being compelled to buy something by the government was a pretty major component of people's freedom for a while, anon.

Then, you know, auto insurance.

In this case, you don't have a constitutional right to be able to drive, or to an automobile. It's a privilege. It'll be awarded or taken away as the state (and the assholes who make the laws, many of whom don't even drive) dictate.
>>
>>16180506
With law, your actions don't have consequences. Your actions might have consequences, or they might not. There are structured systems for determining whether or not your actions have consequences. It's not GOD, it's LAW. Lawyers and judges not levantine jews. Get it right kiddo.

Sometimes those systems are dated and unjust so instead of your actions maybe having consequences, the state acts as a tyrannical "god" figure rather than a civilized place under the rule of law, and says what goes without question as long as they only pick on people with mailing addresses outside of a certain radius.

This isn't true when the police are allowed to beat the shit out of you without justification though. Then, your actions have consequences. Even your haircut has consequences. But when that shit happens, people start assassinating the police.

I never mailed mum license in like I was supposed to and just kept driving albeit carefully. like 2 months in I went to icbc and told them
I had gone travelling and the person who was supposed to mail or hand my license in never did and they just let me finish up my remaining month. whether or not you have a "right" or a "liberty" is irrelevant. rights and liberties are spooks, ephermal ideas of man that may change however the greatest will them to. only force, actions that affect yourself, exist. why is force wrong in a libertarian world? because someone enforces a prohibition against force

with force.

>>16180563
>The point
>your head

The repercussions do not exist until determined by a court of law, unless you accept them yourself. That is how it fucking works.

The law is not your dad. You are not a child in the eyes of the law. The law does not spank you when you've been bad. The law is an agreement between adults, an organised business, and a civilized matter in which civilized people talk about what they've done and what should be done about that. Even the police's immature attempts to enforce "do shit get hit" morality are arguable in the world of law. You could very well cost a police officer his job and get out of a ticket depending on the circumstances.

Sorry the real world is a little more complex than you expected it to be. But keep on living the easy to understand life where nothing ever changed from the time when you were five and staying up late got you spanked no matter what. The rest of us won't be paying half as many fines. Oh, but I'm sure you'll wise up and praise the courts when the consequences at stake are likely to be more severe than a few hundred bucks, like a trumpfag suddenly loving the everloving shit out of the electoral college as definitive of what america is supposed to be once they win because of it.
>>
>>16180666
fuckin kek
>>
>>16180736
Also, the law is rightfully/regretfully ran by some of the most cautious people on earth, so the systems we use to interact with it tend to be as resistant to change as you are. And that sucks.

Maybe after this current generation dies (which should be soon) we'll be able to appeal traffic tickets over skype and stop living in the horse and buggy "aint noone around who aint gonna be more than an hour out tomorrow" era, so the law can be utilized as it should in all cases.

But the point is

you don't understand or appreciate why we have the systems we do
and
you desperately wish for yourself and others to be indiscriminately punished according to a more simplistic, childish morality and that's just dumb

>lol there was absolutely no way you were getting written up for 16 offences
On the off chance that you see this; he read me the list. It wasn't sixteen different ones, just sixteen individual infractions. Six counts of riding on the sidewalk, and so on.
Don't know how things are done in your neck of the woods, but if I had denied everything, there's a more than good chance that I'd get taken to court, and around here, an officer's testimony always outweighs that of a citizen.
I respect the way he handled it, because he taught me a lesson about awareness without needlessly fucking me over.

>wtf bicyclist where do you live that this is normal
Denmark. I think we're the most bikey (as in bicycles) country in the Western world. Pic related, a typical street scene. As a result, there's a fair bit of police-cyclist interaction. Simple traffic infractions are usually about 90 USD a pop, egregious ones more. Speed in a school zone, and you're living off puddles and rice for the next month.

Sure, which is why you can drive when and how you want on your own private property. Public roads are a different story though.

This one happened in May:

>Wife calls me, tells me there is a speed trap on the way home
>Ok, great
>Get in car, drive home
>I approach where the speedtrap is, make sure speed is correct
>Go on through, 35mph in a 35
>Speed changes to 45
>Increase speed to 45
>Continue
>Cop pulls out and pulls me over
>WTF
>Asshole fucking pig piece of shit claims I was going 55.
>Argue with him over it
>He starts smiling and says "well you can fight it but you'll lose."
>"No, I won't lose. You assholes will schedule 70 people for the same timeslot like you always do."
>"Makes you want to just pay it, doesn't it?"

I've only gotten a few speeding tickets, no big deal. Both times, the cops seemed bored with the whole law enforcement endeavor.

Here's a great tip to not get thrown in jail: follow the law and you won't be in trouble with the law. Holy shit, it's that easy! If you don't like the law, go to another country, county or state that has different laws. The entire season we really have states is for having seperate laws.

Are there times when you can probably speed lots on empty roads at night and get away with it? Definitely, but if you understand the consequences of breaking the law under any condition, cops in sight or not, you deserve what you get.

You can get speeding tickets on bikes here too (although you're usually let off with a warning). Drinking and biking is prohibited by law, as is public ontoxication, so you're pretty much forced to grab a taxi - although these laws aren't enforced at all, untill youc rash into something.

You can, actually, if you got the legs for it. But that bit of my post was more general. You cheeky fucker.
>I suppose you can't drink and bike either.
Well, you can, until such a state where the police asses that you cannot ride safely.
In practical terms, this goes almost unenforced. Drunks on bicycles are better than drunks in cars, and besides, like I said, everybody rides bikes everywhere in the first place. Plus, we take our drinking seriously. Busiest day of the year for police and medics are J-Day, the day then the Tuborg, the largest brewery, releases the Christmas beer (Julebryg, hence J-Day)

I've only gotten one ticket and I'm still really mad about it. It's apart of a bigger problem that I still encounter regularly.

I believe that it should be ILLEGAL for roadside workers to leave out their "work area, reduced speed limit"-signs when they aren't there. I see this shit all of the time and it makes me furious.

It's the middle of the day on the freeway. Speed limit is 70mph, but there are "work area" signs changing the speed to 50. NO WORKERS TO BE SEEN AND YET THIS IS ENFORCED and I've been singled out and got a ticket over it.

I've seen the same shit on another road near my house. Normal speed limit is 45, but they changed it to 35 and it's 5pm when the roads are fucking packed with everybody going home from work. Again, there are no workers out there.

The worst case of this I saw is this country road that is between two neighboring cities. You can normally go 55 through there, but they put work signs out making the speed limit 25 and this is through a LOOOONNNNNNNGGGG stretch of like three miles. They want you to go 25mph that fucking long and, again, I saw no workers.

This shit needs to fucking stop. At the very least, they should be taking commonsense into account and only ticketing you for speeding in these work areas while workers are there, but I've been ticketed myself for speeding through an EMPTY work area
