Dude was on tour with his band;

That little redblock still puttin in work! Finally we begin our trip back home to Jacksonville, Florida. We didnt stop anywhere except for gas and food, just cruisin along makin good time. As we pass through Tallahassee, Florida at around 4:00AM all excited that we're 2 hours away, everything changes....

I suffered a sprained ankle and AC joint, some cuts and scrapes, lower back pain, and most likely a concussion. The front passenger only has some lower back pain. Back right passenger has a larger cut in the top of the foot and needed stitches, and the worst was the back left passenger, behind me. He has a soreness in the shoulder, cuts and scrapes, and a non-displaced fractured C1 vertebrae.

The car and trailer were totaled, along with a lot of the music equipment. Unfortunately, we didn't have collision insurance on the car and no insurance on the trailer. The gear wasn't covered at all either. We are so fortunate to have such good friends and family, they set up a gofundme for us and wont stop helping us get back on our feet.

Alrighty, here's the full story from my end:
A little over 2 years ago a 1984 BMW 318i gets towed in because it won't start. The reason it won't start is because the engine bay caught fire and the owner tried to rewire the whole thing himself. Unfortunately this was before I had a smartphone so no pictures of the rat's nest of house wiring and scotch locks that we were presented with. After getting a good used harness and getting the car to start, we found several other things that needed fixing, one of which was the cam lobes having fucking trenches cut into them. About $4,000 and two months later the car was ready to go. Payed for and delivered on Christmas Eve.
Fast forward two years to the week and a familiar-looking 318i gets towed in because it won't start. First thing I did was check for spark (none) and replaced the cap and rotor because the contacts were all wasted. Still no spark. I began to think it sounded a little funny when cranking so I grabbed a compression gauge and on my way back to the car our part-time tech says "That doesn't look quite right". He has the oil cap off and inside we see the broken section of the camshaft.
We suspect the cam had some porosity in the casting because outside of the fractures it looked fine and it broke in places that don't get oiled anyway. The broken rocker is from the piston coming up on the compression stroke and smacking the intake valve that stopped mid-lift.
We were all set to put a used engine in it but the guy backed out and claimed he and his son would be able to do it. Haven't heard anything since.

When I worked in the shop the only lines we'd depressurize before removing were the 1/2" 220PSI lines that drove our 3/4" and 1" drive stuff.

Each fitting had 2 position valve, flipped one way it would open up, flipped the other your line would be shut off from the compressors (we had 2 and a storage tank), and would expose and open a port into a little home-made baffle. This was mainly because if a fitting got stuck open or a line cut, that big meaty hose whipping around could do some serious damage before it drained the system.

Our total capacity for air was over 200gal, with two 75 gal compressors (one kicked on at <200psi and one at <150) and a 50 gal additional storage tank.
