I dream of owning a post 2010 Daytona, but insurance costs in my country are about half the price of the bike. It's basically impossible to insure ANY sporty looking bike. Even a kawasaki 650 r have a retarded cost. It's more expensive to insure a cbr500r than a Suzuki B-king.

With that in mind, Triumph's street triple is growing for me. The speed triple is a bit too powerful for my taste. The triple engine is absolutely lovely. Will this quench my thirst for a Daytona?

Actually, it was an FMX 650. Has a dominator engine. The owner was a brit and the place was brittish. The britts don't have it THAT hot there. Maybe it was just neglect. Hope so. We have an aircooled deutz tractor and the oil never came out like that.

Engine size alone isn't a very good indicator of fuel usage. Newer bikes are much better on fuel.

I can get pic related on my F800R if I take it very easy on the commute, but it's too boring to ride this slow. A more realistic figure on it is anything betwen 4 - 4.5 L / 100km. My CBF250 (carburated) gets about 3.5 L / 100km if ridden easily, and if I have the throttle pinned on the highway it gets 5 L / 100km. My CBR600 never got under 6 L / 100km no matter how I rode it :(

Anything modern under 800cc that isn't a supersport should do ok. Also, smaller bikes have cheaper tires, chains and sprockets, but we're usually talking sub 300cc for this to matter.

Is there any major downsides to a dirtbike turned street legal if I'm not really pushing it over 80km/h on the street? I want a dirtbike but I really don't want to deal with buying more equipment to transport the thing, and it might be nice to ride around on the road every now and then. If you're actually using it as a dirt bike and just want to legally be able to take the roads to your riding location I say go for it. You'll have to add a a bit of equipment to actually make it street legal but I'm sure you can deal with a couple extra pounds.
However if you just want to ride a dirt bike around on the street all day I don't really think it's worth it.
