Sedan. Top kek this car is wagon only. All the sedan versions should be destroyed and parted out for looking like shit.

Yeah i agree, just mistyped wagon with sedan. Fuck c5 sedans they look gross. Also Sline from that era was a joke how anyone even ordered Sline? Extra money for what? 3 spoke """""""""sport""""""" steering wheel?
i have an irrational love for the b5 s4. i think its the most goddamn beautiful car ever built. even my 2.8 is such a charm to drive, i couldnt imagine how much better the s4 is. i wish i could afford one and its maintenance!

How are the running costs on your regular 2.8? Common points of failure, things to watch out for?

owned for about two years, bought it at 100k, now its at 135k. never been stranded with it but had 2 or 3 things needing repairs. each was $600-1000: power steering/serpentine belts($1000) leaky gaskets($600). forgot the other thing, but they all occurred 9-12 months apart from each other. so basically around $1000 a year give or take to own. i did exceed its value as i bought it for $2800 but seriously it has been awesome to drive. rather drive this than any other car
oil pan is really low on the car so on my fault i bottomed out on an annoying little bump i couldnt see in the dark so that set me back $500. electrics are pretty solid except the moonroof has a mind of its own and toggles on or off sporadically, something i dont really care to fix as it doesnt bother me. everything else is cheap, lights, oil, etc. oil change is slightly higher cost as it needs 7 quarts of fully synthetic but still its a $40 diy as opposed to $100 at a place. btw the oil change is ridiculously easy in this car.
worst things: 16-20mpg combined. 5 spd manual + awd + v6 = terrible fuel consumption. otherwise a stellar car
also im a poor college student and its been relatively easy to maintain with a bottom barrel job.

Nice to hear, and I'm guessing costs can be kept down if I were to do most, if not all, of the work myself.
It's also one of my dream sleeper projects to stuff an (R)S4 drivetrain into a B5 Passat, since they're almost the same mechanically. You can buy 4 Passat front control arms for the price of 1 S4 front control arm, for instance, and they're the same part.
>tfw someone posts my favorite car
why do Americans like audi?
they are only driven by slavshit trash gypsies in europe, i say this as a german
>>16157363
yes, its the labor that was always the bulk of my invoices. the 2.8 is almost indestructible. my audi mechanic says the worst thing that could happen is the cats go bad, each one can be $1k.
