So the engine is a 4AGE that was supposed to go into my Corolla, I bought the engine off of a guy who turned out to be a friend of a friend. My friend told me that he's pretty sure that this motor was the one that sat in his driveway unprotected for years. The guy knew it needed a full rebuild when he sold it to me but never told me, I was an idiot trusted the dude when he said it was good and got fucked (only saving grace is that where I live 4AGEs are dirt cheap). Pretty much water leaked in and just sat there. It's even worse in person I just don't have pictures, the head is completely fucked, the TVIS butterfly valve plate is rusted so bad it's siezed.

I tried soaking it in diesel which is an old farm trick my gramps used to use all the time and it didn't work, the pistons are rusted to the cylinder wall. Luckily I have great friends and they gave me some spare motors they had laying around that are in various states of disrepair. >>16158549
>I'd be scared shitless to go anywhere near that thing in case it blows.
It only looks scary. But remember that it doesn't have any more air than what it was inflated with before the belts inside tore lose and let the rubber expand like a balloon. It's not like the tire was continually inflated with yet more pressure.
So going up to it and removing the valve stem from that TRIANGLE brand chinese tire was the best suggestion at avoiding damage to the rest of the expensive hauler. As for warranty, those chinese companies are good at avoiding it even if you buy it from a dealer. Consumer Reports tested some chinese tires to give perspective to their other tire tests and the chinese companies basically disavowed the results. One company even said the tests were invalid (and defamatory (lawsuit?)) because Consumer Reports bought tires whose serial numbers were unauthorized for that seller. Mind you that CR bought them thru the normal official distribution chain. Tires entering into such chains should all be official releases from the manufacturer warehouse and should have warranty.
