There needs to be a better Vin Check service. Anybody know how hard it is to make a database and get in good with the american guberment?

It isn't a federal database, it is 1000s of private buisiness in networks with eachother. Mostly insurance companies.
Yes there is a state component to it, mostly ownership, safety and emissions inspections. but there are way more private networks that feed into carfax and other Vin check companies.
TL;DR scrape together a shitload of shekels and piggyback off of Carfax or another provider at first then build up.
