The old AMG tuned Mercs sounded godlike.
Alpina is also a name that pops up in mind when I think of good tuning companies.

Alpina is not a tuning company. Ruf does tuning, but are, like Alpina, also separate manufacturers.
But, yeah, if you're not nitpicky, they're the best.

I'm looking for a 2002-2008 forester xt in Oregon and its fucking painful. There are hardly any for sale, almost none are in manual, many have been ruined by vapelords and all are overpriced.

The best one I can find is an unmodified 2004 with 101k miles for 12 grand

I finally found a WRX wagon that wasn't completely clapped out for a reasonable price, but it ain't perfect.

I wanted an Outback XT or a Legacy GT turbo wagon, or even a Forester XT, but nobody fucking sells their Turbo subarus. If they do, it's for an obscene price.
