There's a dyno not too far from me so I plan to capture before and after numbers. Over the stock k24a2 with bolt ons, I think I could see a 40-50whp gain with a fairly aggressive head build. That would probably put it somewhere in that 250-260ish whp area which will make it respectably quick for a honda civic, imo.

Keeping the block internals stock because it'll work fine with the cams according to Vit. With his approval and some pretty decent gains on the table, there's no good reason for me to crack open the block, probably massively fuck something up and spend another 2 or 3 grand to fix it or to have someone do the whole thing for me. No way, Jose. After the head swap I'm keeping my hands off the motor for a while.

I'm looking for a trunk lip spoiler for my car and I found one, but the problem is that it's an adhesive application.
I didn't think that something like glue would work very well for a spoiler, but I could be wrong.
My main concern is I live in Texas (winter time so heat isn't a concern but it easily reaches 100+ F here during the summer) and it worries me that an adhesive wouldn't be able to handle that.
The spoiler itself is cheap as fuck because I can't find any big-name companies offering one for my car, and I don't really trust their adhesive quality, are there any recommendations for adhesives to attach my spoiler with?
Or, alternatively, has anybody found an Integra coupe trunk lip spoiler? I can only find 4dr ones.
>>
>>16138675
Look for adhesive that can withstand the temps. Usually preparation is the most important thing.
>>
>>16138260
Yeah, I'll be swapping out the stock cams is what I meant. I'll be running DC 3.2's, supertech 92 lb springs and s2 alpha valves stock compression on the z3 head. I was under the impression that it would be too spooky to run a built head with those cam specs on the stock block with 10.5:1 comp, but since vit said it'll be fine I'm just gonna run with the head build and keep my hands off the block.

And should I get the cheapo (70 dollar) one and try to jury rig it on or drop 300 for this project JDM one and drill a hole in the middle of my trunk?

Alcohol wipes and dry with a microfiber towel. I don't recommend drilling since it doesn't look like it has enough thickness. You'd need to have at least 4 drills.
>>

What do you mean? The trunk isn't thick enough? http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-Dry-Carbon-Fiber-Trunk-Finisher-94-01-Integra-2DR-P10561C86.aspx
the ad says drill hole in middle of trunk and attach rest with adhesive, I was considering just getting adhesive and putting it on.

So are there audio cues for a belt going bad? My engine sounds as good as the day I bought the car.
>>
>>16139087
I forgot to mention he should change his tensioners or check the pulleys the timing belt uses. One of them might need to be replaced. And obviously if his belt is okay (visually) then he doesn't need to replace it.
>>
>>16139087

It's kind of like asking if there are audio cues for a tire going bad.

You're not really going to know anything until it's probably too late.

This is why visual inspection and record keeping are important. And any time you pull your engine, do the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump in one go
>>
>>16139236
I plan on doing it along with my head gasket since it's on its way out. Get it all out of the way at once and have a record of it.

Right now my bad estimation on miles on the engine is around 110k. Had 60k according to the guy I bought it from last year.

Hello fellow third gen driver?
Third gen preludes and accords do not share all that many parts. I know for a fact you can swap the accord alternator for higher current, but you need a bigger belt. There's a list of interchangeable parts with various other Honda models on the preludepower forum.
>>
>>16139667

Christ, I've forgotten my trip...

Anyway, I'm sadly betraying /hg/ at least for the near future.

My lude has developed a gearbox problem that I can't fix myself as well as a couple of other notable issues so it's getting shipped off to a friend who has the time to fix it and then use it as their car. Might reclaim it when they're done with it.

D series blocks do ok up to around 190hp. Then you start having more issues. K 24 goes to about 230 while k20 goes a bit higher before reliability drops on stock internals. Blocks can handle a lot but other areas are lacking.
If i remember right boosting the k24 you can get it around 260 hp. I suggest looking up better dampeners though for past 230hp on a k24 since you already have plans on most the stuff you would need to swap anyways. At 10:1 id suspect its going to be much harder on the engine mounts, though i may be wrong.

They had their chance with Obama and we are worse off for it. I wish it was David Palmer from 24 instead.
>>
>>16140368
the stock internals on k series motors are good for quite a bit more actually. Not at all uncommon for people to bolt a blower onto the stock motor and push 300whp reliably. I know Fat Marrah reviewed a 400 hp si running a comptech kit and E85 on the stock k24z7. 400-500 is generally ok on these motors from what I gathered, but I would say even 400 hp would be too spooky for me without some reinforcement.

yeah, I made the upgrade to the 70a Hasport dogbone and rear mounts . Even when i'm just idling, my change rattles around in the coin drawer haha. I think I've seen dampers or pitch mounts that can be added to the dogbone. I'll have to check em out

Guys please help me out.

I bought a Civic3D 1,6iLS Sport EP2/1/8

the previous owner put on Type R badges and stickers to make it look like a EP3 I guess.

The Type R badges are embarresing but I do like to have something there.
What badge could I put on this car instead?

I'm 6'2 and fit fine in 5th, 6th, and 9th gen sedans pretty easily. I also have size 16 shoes. There should be even more space in coupes and hatchbacks. For extra headroom, seat swaps are common. Del Sol seats are much lower to the ground than stock ones.

itll have some length to it
Goes like this,
Merging onto the express I notice a little fiat with no taillights, but there's a glow at the front. I figure its just the rears are busted. With my lane ending, i get up to 2 to pass. In the time I look at my left mirror I see some lights and merge. At 3, I realize fully that headlights arent mounted down so lo so I move over to 4 and do the ol' side flicker where i turn my lights off and on to show them their lights are off. In this time still no response and as Im looking over, this lady keeps looking down, ignoring me or something. Deciding side by side wasn't enough, I merge behind her and do it again.

She takes it as a signal to move over left.

For fucks sakes.

Where do you guys get your aftermarket parts from?
Is there any guides on the web for building a b18c1 engine?
>>
>>16148042
Aftermarket usually people get from ebay and amazon as far as i know. Really anything works as long as you get what you paid for.
>>
>>16148054
Are there any recommended brands or ones to stay away from?
I was wanting to hit a bit over 200 WHP, someone said "just do injectors and a walbro pump. Boost it and get it tuned. SHould be able to hit the 250 300hp mark with no problem. No need to sleeve it if youre not making "killer" power. Just my .02"
Is it really that easy? I was expecting to have to like, reforge or rebuild the engine?

This one interests me as well
"Skunk 2 stage 3 tuner series cams
skunk 2 pro series cam gears
had skunk 2 alpha power headers but upgraded to sk2 mega power headers
skunk 2 mega power rr exhaust
stage 2 clutch
skunk 2 composite fuel rail
p28 with a base map"

Is skunk2 a good company?
Sorry, I'm really bad at articulating this as I'm still learning a lot of things as I go.

Yeah, I'm looking to get a Honda which is why I'm in this thread. My credit union said they could approve me for a 10k loan if I had a cosigner and my dad was willing yet they didn't answer his call earlier so hopefully that gets resolved soon.
>>
>>16149333
Nice trips.

10k is a lot of room for a good Honda. I know 2012ish Civic Sis sell for 12k around here. A seventh gen Civic Si hatch is less than half that and they're hatch mustard race. It's probably what I'd go for. If not that then an Acura RSX-S.

I'm low income as fuck though so I'm running in the 90's.
>>
>>16149359
Yeah, I'm low income as well but the interest isn't too bad and I figured I can fit the payments into my budget. I'd love to get a manual Civic but to be honest, I've never driven a manual before (minus an ATV but that doesn't count).
>>
>>16149368
It's definitely worth it if you want to try learning. I didn't know how to either but I bought the hatch anyway and drove it every day until I learned it. Spent a few late nights just practicing. The gas mileage alone makes it worth it. My auto D16 Civic averaged 25mpg city while my current one in manual averages 33 while also being faster.

Also autos in Hondas are pretty risky to own. They love to break. The manuals are some of the best in the industry though.
>>
>>16149385
In regards to breaking, I think anything would be better than my van. I'm not limiting myself to Hondas, I've just always liked them. I mean, I get the basic concepts of driving a manual and I feel like I could at least get it off the lot.
>>
>>16149396

Not exactly. If you know what to check for its a matter of being pricey and not necessarily worth it. Lots of intercooler maintenance and constant fear of unexpected heat... And for my model shifter falls out into another gear barely tapping it. I learned that these can last just as long but significantly more expensive getting them to 300k miles. Hondas got heat problems and clogs. Still non orbital gears are easier than others to work on. Way better than dct and cvt.

Your problem isn't just tires, but also bad driving technique

You literally described lift-off oversteer
>>
>>16149749

If you run into a stuck balljoint, you can try this trick. (it's worked for me in the past)

make sure the castle nut is off
hammer a bit
get in the car and turn the wheel from lock to lock
doing it a few times will help work the joint from the seat
hammer some more
get back in car and turn lock to lock again

If it doesn't help after 3 tries though, might just need to torch the damn thing.

You can also try using a jack to push the knuckle up and hammer the joint down
(but dont lift the car)

Oh and also, try to make sure the balljoint is perpendicular with the floor when you go to hit it, otherwise you are forcing it to hit the side of the knuckle, if that makes sense
>>
>>16150375
Yeah I ended up putting a jack onto the lower ball joint and I actually lifted that corner of the car with it but no dice. I'll be going wild with the hammer in the afternoon so I should be able to get it then. That tool was one of my favorites too. A combo of that and my small sledge should definitely get them.

I paid $42k, 91,000 miles, all original, 5-speed manual, dealer maintenance history. I probably overpaid a bit but I chose to buy from a dealership for simplicity.

I'm not going to do much, I'm definitely going to get new window tint since the stuff on there is turning purple, I might get some bronze TE37s down the line and lower it a bit, and I also might have the brakes powdercoated.

Sweet ride, you don't see many clean EJ hatchbacks, most of them are riced out or beat to shit. :/

you can get better grip off the line with an underinflated tire, then when you are up to speed the tire stands up straight, much narrower so you have a fraction less rolling resistance
>>
>>16157006
I'd probably hurt myself trying to drive it. There are slower EGs here in full drag setups that aren't even streetable. I bet this guy is driving it home after swapping tires.

I wonder what engine he had? Hopefully the IFO page mentions it.

I'm torn, /hg/.
I can't decide whether to turn my civic (which I'm not super into) into a more fun vehicle, or putting my money aside and getting a vehicle that I already enjoy right off the bat. This being said how do I save up for a car I will like while bringing home ~$600 a month after my bills. Sorry if this gets a little off the topic of Hondas, I just feel most at home in this thread.
>>
>>16157439
Damn I hate it when people don't show up for stuff like that.
>>
>>16158341
How to save money? Just withdraw $100 per week and put it in a drawer and don't touch it until you've saved enough for a car you want.
>>
>>16158394
I understand the concept, and feel stupid for asking that question.

I got 34 with the all day highway driving. Though I kept it locked between 3000 to 3500 the whole way.

Today was badass though. Went to check on that hatch build I was watching last night and they got it rolling. Him in that fresh B20Z2(?) hatch, the other guy in his B20 vtec turbo, and me at the rear. Just three EGs prowling through the city streets at midnight.
