The thing is The SC400 had a 4 speed and a extrmeely smooth and bulletproof 1uz which actually had torque unlike the six pot. Also the luxury refinements in the sC400 like the two point doors sound insulation and power everything made this car the perfect cruiser just as the engineers intended. Something meant for commuting on the highway in style and dropping your kids off.

The supra on the other hand lacked the v8 power the sc400 had and as a result had to rev the piss out of them to get any power They were heavy but lacked any of the luxery refinement the sc400 had while having none of the benefits giving rise to the question,What is exactly the appeal of this car

Well, European makers made luxury cars, nips made performance cars. So nip cars were actually made to be owned by normal people while offering similar performance (infinitely better performance if you consider the price). Americans did the same with their ponycars, but they never bothered to export them in large numbers. So "JDM" is like a cool car that you can can actually own. Also in the 90s Japanese cars were just straight up best in the world in any class except highest luxury. They're considered to be reliable too, even though it's just Toyota and Honda that are actually engineered to not break.

Are you a moron? The JZA80 Supra was absolutely intended to be driven hard and be sporty.

The SC400 had a shitty 4 speed auto opposed to the great 6 speed manual in the Supra and the 1UZ produced less torque at it's peak than the 2JZ-GTE at 2000 RPM with a flatter curve orverall. The Supra lacks the luxury refinements of the SC400 because IT'S A SPORTS CAR, which was obviously not meant for dropping your kids off.

As for your moronic argument of "MUH VEEATE POWURR" the 1UZ produces less peak power, with the 2JZ-GTE producing the same amount at a lower RPM. If that didn't already disprove your claim of having to rev the piss out of them, the Supra produces peak power at 5600 RPM which is only a few hundred RPM higher than the RPM at which the 1UZ delivers peak power, as well as being much lower than the RPM at which it's competitors (namely, the GT-R) delivered peak power. Admittedly the Supra is heavy but still a good bit less heavy than the SC400 and it multiple benefits over it such as better handling, rigidity, and the iconic spoiler which gives it a good bit of downforce.

While speaking in generalities I wouldn't say this is inaccurate but as an owner I can confirm they are wonderful on the track, and more people than you think use them for that purpose. Of course, that fact will always be overshadowed by 1/4 mile Supras, which is a fair point as it is their greatest strength.
