Havent kept up with any of the Dieselgate hoopla.
How are the Used VW Diesel going to be affected by depreciation?
Should i buy myself a cheap Diesel?
I live in California so not sure how it would work.

I imagine you won't be able to get them for a good price because any diesel that hasn't yet been fixed will entitle the owner to a large cash payment and an expensive modification. You'd have to be retarded to sell it at a discount right now as VW is gonna give owners their value from 2015 from before the story broke.
Something tells me that non-dieselgated TDI's are going to be a small collector's item in the future. In the same way that the turbo 4-pot Dodge Caravan was.

Bruh maybe its just me but id keep my dieselgate VW. The "fix" they do makes it less fuel efficient. The environment can go fuck itself :^]

There's been no significant drop in price. That's because owners get before scandal value + ~5k in cash compensation. There's absoutely no reason for them to sell third party as they'd be losing out on 5k.
For example, a used 2014 tdi can net you almost enough to buy a moderatly equipped 2016 passat. So an owner would trade in his tdi, shell out 1-2k n balance and boom brand new fucking car.
Now no surge in the amount of tdi's on the used market = no drop in price.
Supply X Demand
Just look for a new or used TSI golf manual senpai if you want a VW. I live in Canada so theres not really a viable diesel here.
They aren't going to ever be legal in California because CARB wont approve the fix.

this. VW has to buy back all of them; there won't be any used ones.

bought a diesel audi a3 just before the news about the cheating.
68k miles paid 13k.
VW is going to buy it from for 20k.
so i'm going to profit over 5k.

I thought this too but then I realized you can just take any to a tuner and theyll give you back the old tune, maybe even better.
VAG might as well give up on diesel in passenger cars.
new emissions standards won't allow for them. especially in europe where cities are banning cars from entering now.
the costs of a parallel series split hybrid is about the same as a diesel. it is is a plug in and has some EV range. then it avoids congestion fees in european cities. guzzoline hybrids can meet emissions easier.
