Hey /o/ffroadies. We don't have a single trucc or offroad thread now so it looks like these questions deserve their own threads.

It's starting to get wet here now after 3 consecutive rainfalls and whilst rock climbing with muh trucc, the engine bay's starting to really damn muddy as opposed to dry as a bone on normal days.
On top of this, the hose i carry around for my pressure washer just broke so I can't do it until I get a hose (and spend the extra $75 for their really specialised hoses). I've got another round tomorrow evening and want to make sure I'll be able to survive the week as I use mah trucc for worcc, too.

I just put a sprinkler under the rear of the vehicle and waiting for the engine bay to cool off before I spray it with the garden hose.

How do you all wash the mud out of the engine bay? How high has the water risen on your side / hood before?

Any Onterrible climbers coming your way? I'm bringing my rifle, shotgun, and tags tomorrow/Wednesday up north if anyone wants to jack off to each other's rides.

Engine bay-
>2 plastic bags around cap with rubber bands.
>pull air cleaner, 2 more bags and rubber bands around carb.
>hose until clean.

Mines a simple setup though, so water isn't going to hurt anything else.
I wouldn't do that on my fox body.

Yeah, the fox bodies have a lot of issues with water seepage since they're not really meant to go through the rough and wet countries at high speeds.

Anyway, I have a 2010 Ranger so direct injection. I'm wary of the battery so do I disconnect that first? Our water isn't very hard so there shouldn't be any electrical issues. But one can never be too paranoid.
Why rubber band the caps? Aren't they meant to be tight so that the pressured oils and whatever don't leak through?

I'm more wondering how to clean it out the most efficiently. I know my friend just literally sits there with a garden hose for 5 minutes spraying his Jeep TJ with the engine RUNNING.

Bumping for potentially more advice?

Also, you can't offroad on a manual. Automatics are the only way to go on and off the road, btw. Just so you all know.

>wash the mud out of the engine bay

Why would you do that?

When I scrapped my xj after wheeling it for years it had the original layer of mud on the engine still, everything was a nice set in tan because the Indiana mud is strip mine shit and apparently welds itself to anything, plastic, rubber metal-my entire engine bay was a uniform tan.

categorically false american swine, manuals are superior for offroading,, especially river crossings etc when your exhaust could potentially go under water.

You could argue one is better than the other, but saying
>you can't offroad with a manual

is actual bullshit and you're a tool

You know, I never actually considered not washing it off. Just would be easier to fumble around with shit and looks better, i guess?
Does the mud help with preventing rust on the inside?

Rangers aren't known to have that much rust inside or out so good point?

>>16095873
I did that to (rather unsuccessfully) to get a manucuck / autotragic fight going on /o/ and hopefully draw in a few good points.
Didn't work that well since I guess the meme defenders don't actually look at off road threads </3

Otay. Now i has a cylinder 1 misfire and small leak on the emission exhaust line.

changed the spark plug in 1 and 3 and still has the issue. Pls no injection problem.

Anyone have other common fixes for cylinder misfires?

Ah c'm/o/n. I know some of you have opinions / experiences with muddying the waters and engine bays.
I know you're not all just here to bicker about Ford/GM or Manucucc / Autotragicc.

But in case you are, you can bump it to this sick beat:

My engine bay still has the filthy commiefornia muck in it from 12 hours after purchasing the Black Bitch, buried many many layers under God tier oregon red clay. Why wash it? It keeps the oil leaks contained therefore keeping me from harming MUH ENVIRONMENTZ
>>
>>16101031
heh. commieforniefags and their environmen'ts

fair enough. for some reason, i thought the mud would attract higher levels of moisture and cause more rust over time. but i guess once it solidifies, it makes it easier?

so consensus is to not wash it off unless salt water? that's the other thing. salt water in the winter might cling better to the mud and therefore stay longer? you can't really winterproof a car's underneath without removing the layer of dirt first though.

I know you commieforniucks don't deal with winter and salt and whatever. But it's a pretty big issue here in canuckistan.
