Which one is the better buy given if both are the same price?

The s2k is faster in a straight line, has less body roll, turns more heads. Also, it is appreciating in value currently and apparently has the best stock shifter ever made.

The ND miata will save money on gas, apparently is faster around the track, costs less for insurance and comes with a new car warranty.

I was thinking of buying the s2000 now and buying an ND after it depreciates, but will I really save any money at all even if the s2000 is raising in price? If the ND miata is supposedly faster as well, is it worth purchasing the s2000 at all?
>>
>turns more heads

actually, i think the new miata would grab more attention
s2k is starting to look a bit outdated

anyway, it's a tough choice between these
miata is more modern, lighter, has chassis just as good and bodyroll is easily fixable if it bothers you
>>
the s2000 is not raising in price
>>
>>16064748
If you're a fag then get the miat. Not even joking
The new one looks like a cock smokers chariot

It's not depreciation hard either - unlike the ND or Fiata.

>Fag: Dude why dont you have a dildo strapped into your head??

>Guy: Uhh Im not gay

>Fag: What?? Why are so so insecure??
>>
>>16064748
Objectively speaking, the S2000 is. It'll depreciate less, if at all.

>Less body roll
Can be tuned out of the ND.
>Turns more heads
Subjective - so you like it more. Go for it.

ND
>Saves gas
Not a priority to most. S2K still gets decent MPG.
>Faster
Not a priority on these cars.
>Costs less to insure
I think insurance on a newer, more valuable car will be higher.

As it sits though, the S2000 is a lot cheaper than the ND, with a lot better depreciation curve. It's one of the few new accessible cars cited to start appreciation rapidly - just behind the NSX.
>>
>>16064792
I mean I can get an ND for about 23k and a s2k with 40k miles or less for 23k

You leased an automatic FR-S, your posts are to be ignored.

Everytime i see these retarded american threads comparing s2ks with brand new 30k cars i get triggered. How are they even close in price when i can get an s2k for 5k euros? fucking dumb americucks
>>
>>16064975
I don't drive one, and I'm not gay. A car is not inherently gay untill 100% of it's owners are gay - which is not the case. Besides, you can always buy a Fiata.

I know I will get a lot of shit for this but I will have the new MX-5 in a heartbeat. Has more umpf at low rpms and is a better cruisers. And let's face it: these are not track cars.
>>
>>16064880
Don't get an s2k with 23k miles unless you want a garage queen. It's rare to see them with mileage like that, so daily driving that car will just leave you thinking about what could have been if you'd been smarter.

Get one with at least 50k, but preferably below 100k; they're reasonably priced, the drive train will still have tons of life left, and it'll be half the initial purchase price.
>>
>>16065069
Do people actually do this? Buying cars with low mileage that were not limited edition and don't drive them because "muh lowmileage"?
>>
>>16065062
>fr layout
>snap oversteer

Dude, get a grip. There is nothing more inherently dangerous about the s2k than the miata. I mean, even if you were retarded and couldn't control an oversteer, it's not like there's a significant difference between the miata and the s2k in terms of driving dynamics. The new miata may have stability control, but that's about it, and if you need nannies in a <200hp car, you've got bigger problems as a driving enthusiast.

>>
>>16065082
How do you think a 23k mile s2k is on the car market in the first place?
>>
>>16065085
That's the thing about the mx-5. It has so little power that you really need to try to get it to oversteer.
>>
>>16064748
The fiata
>>
>>16065089
Some fag got it and forgot about it in the back of the garage.
Or he had another car that he liked a lot more and kept this as a back-up. Like that old man with a W123 with less than 1000 kms.
>>
>>16065095
>I want to buy the worse one because I don't trust myself to drive the other one

Ok, you do you, but why should op take you seriously when you clearly hate spirited driving?
>>
/o/, for the love of God grow the fuck up
>>
>>16065108
Lol of course. Because every retired boomer just buys and stores multiple cars for fifteen years without driving them, just for shits and giggles.

Besides, if it's been sitting for any length of time without being driven and it's not storage prepped, it's not worth 23k anyway.
>>
Okay guys, so which is the better daily driver/autocross toy?

Will s2ks become unaffordable in the next few years? Should I get one now and get it out of my system and wait for the ND depreciation? Or should I pick up a club ND for 22k?
>>
>>16064770
Yes it is, check trend for the last 5 years.
>talking out of your ass
It has literally doubled.

And, of course, you leased an autotragic FR-S and (here's the kicker) ACTUALLY THOUGHT IT WAS BRAG WORTHY.

You clearly have no idea what you're doing with whatever that can of dog food you have a brain. You're killing me smalls.
>>
>>16065147
I don't know. Why don't you drive them both and see which you like better.

If you must add which is the better investment into the mix, the S2K.

The only thing that bothers me about the S2K is that they didn't sell very well. If it's such a great car why did it have such a short production?
>>
Uhhhhh

In what world is the 155hp Miata with softer suspension and more body roll faster around a track than the 240hp s2000, with the most rigid chassis ever put in a convertible and a crazy flat approach through turns?
>>
>>16065199
I would drive an s2000 if I could find one less than 200 miles away.

>>16065211
Just from lap times I've seen. They're normally within a few 10ths of each other.

miata weighs 400lbs less while having the same displacement/cylinders as an ap1 s2000.

If you want to modify a car get the miata, it has more potential and you won't be ruining a potential classic.

If you're about the OEM life, get the s2000 or the Abarth 124
>>
>>16065226
i don't understand these lap times. i smoked the absolute fuck out of a couple nds on the track, a brz and even a wrx. at the time my car only had upgraded tires and lowering springs which probably just hurt the performance, but i was demolishing them all on the straights except for the wrx. i stop light raced my buddy's brz, whose been driving manual for longer than i have so driver skill is null, and by the end of second gear i was easily 1 1/2 car lengths ahead.
and not to sound like a cocky asshole, but there are very few cars now that can keep up with my s2gay on the track now and all i have done is coilovers and wider/stickier tires.

>tldr
the nds laptimes just don't make sense to me based on personal experience seeing how slow they actually are.
>>
>>16065433

>>
S2K obviously - wtf how is this even a thread?

The fact that anybody is even asking this question and seriously debating the answer means it's time to get an S2K if you're considering it. The very second it actually becomes competitively prices with MX5 it'll start appreciating.
>>
>>16065489
What? The new miata goes 0-60 in under 6 seconds and handles even better than before. It's right at s2k territory.
>>
>>16065095
Every reviewer says the ND is set up really loose from the factory and it will power over right out of the box.

>>16065085
The S2000 has significant rear bumpsteer. It changes toe as the rear suspension compresses, causing the rear end to steer itself as the suspension compresses. If you're too aggressive with it, the rear end will steer itself right out in front. That's what people are referring to when they talk about snap oversteer in the S2000, not the inertial pendulum effect you see in rear engined and transverse mid engined cars.
