Easy to get tons of power out of it for cheap.

Handles well, especially the FD.
>>
>>16064128
Technically interesting, fun driving dynamics, BRRRRRRAAAAAP!, and a deep affection for the wonderful freaks of the automotive world. That said, the rotary engine is best suited to motorcycle duty, in my eyes.
>>
>>16064174
fuck the autism is strong with this one.

Bikes make short work of piston engines and a 100,000 mile honda with its original motor is considered exceptional. How do you think a rotary would fare?

There are currently two rotary bikes on my local CL in a state of neglect and half finished rebuild
>>
>>16064212
100000 miles on any bike is exceptional. We know good and well that our engines have shorter life cycles. FFS, some of us ride two-smokes. Bikes typically don't see the mileage that cars do, for starters. I'd imagine that a rotary would fare quite well, particularly with the benefits of modern metallurgy and machining. I took a ride on a norton classic (rare, wonderful bird). Despite its flaws, it was a wonderful ride. Silky smooth power. This was a bike from 1987, btw.
>>
Because I wont fit in one very well.
>>
>>16064232
oh yeah sure rotary motorcycles could totally beat 2-strokes in life expectancy

>rotoray car
>BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP, BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP, BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP, BRRRRrrrrr

>MOOOM MY CAR IS DOING THINGS AGAIN
>>
>>16064244
Motorcycle engines operate at higher RPMs than car engines, and rotaries need to be revved out to stay healthy. Do you understand now?
>>
>>16064146
>>16064128
Weight, balance, chassis, that sweet engine noise

cons are finicky and maintenance eater.

Still worth getting
>>
>>16064250
And motorcyclists rev the shit out of things beyond what they need. By all means, their engines can last, but not if the riders will have any part of it.
>>
>>16064258
Also take a motorcycle engine out to rebuild is much more easier
>>
>>16064128

honestly, the fc is the car that made me like cars.

But this fucking board is making me ashamed of this.
>>
>>16064266
As if an RX is that hard to work with
>>
>>16064274
Don't be ashamed of cars you like...

Except the PT Cruiser - FUCK that ugly piece of shit!
>>
Why are there no modern day rotary bikes?

A half sized Renesis engine would be perfect.

200hp, 100lb-ft, 299lb. Nice. That's greater power:weight than a One:1.

Wonder why they don't drop it to 500cc. It'd still compete with literbikes then.
>>
>>16064280

I like the car a lot, but even with them being affordable (even cheap) where I live, I am sure that maintenance would fuck me up with my current income.

Maybe in a couple of years...

I love my rx7 fc and its for a lot of reasons fools that just only post about cars on image boards instead of ever driving any cars to the limist and actually seeing the small attributes that change drastically from car to car. The fc being as that the engine block and transmission weigh the same it gets some almost perfect weight balance, then the engine being so small and compact means it is seated lower and farther back in the engine bay giving is the lower center of gravity and a more front mid than just front engine placement that mix beautifully with the light weight and perfect balance. Also for the power you get from a rotary its much nicer to have that small thing that weighs much less than some v6 that makes similar power.
>>
>>16064128
I'm going to import fd in next month, because they are too expensive in my country. And improving reliability is fun job for me...
>>
>>16064128
The fc is a great car it's cheap fun good feedback through the wheel and seat pretty quick for something with 200hp yes you can do skids with little effort but who cares the upkeep of it isn't bad just oil changes Alot of them and spark plugs a lot of those not a hard engine to work on just make sure you don't overheat it. Oh the rotary sounds great imo and people's faces when you throw out fireballs
>>
>>16064128
Um i guess because it's the best japanese sports car?
>>
Mazda didn't sell 800k RX-7's, 800k of a sports car, because it's not great.

What other sports car has sold that many over 24 years?
>>

a mustang if youre willing to classify it as a sports car

It's a GT car.

FB looks great and light weight fun
FC is cheap and good for V8 swaps
FD is great all around out of the box
>>
>>16064620
They stopped making muscle cars in the 70-80s. A muscle car is somthing with a engine that looks like a creatine clydesdale, no power anything, lipservice brakes and a camshaft so hyperphallic the motor can't idle properly
>>
>>16064128
FD's got some sexy curves
>>
>>16064128
The styling, the engine, and overall driving experience. Smoothest revving engine I've felt. Super easy to work on as well.

Man, I miss my FC.
>>
I would love to do an lq9 swap, but fuck it's so time consuming and finding a 6.0 new or salvaged is hard as fuck where I live

I want one because I think they look great and are interesting to me. That's a good enough reason for me.

I've been looking around for one for years but the rust belt has killed off everything worth getting. :(
>>
>>16065486
probably one of the worst swaps you can do to an FD
>>
I love the look of the FB, I'd love to buy one that's shit the bed and fix it up. Probably one of the best looking coupes of the late 70s-early 80s period.

I drove an RX8 recently

Everyone tells me "you don't want that bro, the mpgs bro, the seals, bro!"

But my dick has been incurably hard since I drove it. I NEED ONE
So fucking satisfying, so smooth, so small, so much power, so much brap
>>
>>16066149
Worse mpg than a v8, and the power of a 4cyl.

Look dude, I had two Rx8s. An s1 and an S2 R3. If you must, get an S2. But really, don't.
>>
>>16066149

the RX8 has no turbo tho..

Yeah, your're right, but if I wanted MPGs than I'd get a fucking hybrid.

Look, show me something more fun and smooth and as good looking in the price range and I'll let you make my decisions for me

He's comparing to the RX8. Which, to be fair, I adore The Styling of the RX8 but I understand that I am very much the minority.

Then it's a good job I'm not comparing it to any RX-7 then, isn't it?
At least the NB has design cues from the FD.

Because an 87 N/A FC was the first car I ever bought with my own money, and nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Despite the lack of power it was incredibly fun to drive. I wouldn't mind a Turbo II
>>
>>16066423

>>
>>16066323
A miata is way better
>>
The engine is awesome and sounds great. Plus it can shoot fireballs. Wankel wanking aside though the body style is great on every model. I own an fc and would own an fd if i could afford one. The car was built with performance inind and it shows. It handles like a dream even on my worn out stock shocks. The seats hug my fat ass like they were made for me. The shifter is positioned perfectly for your arm, and the instrument cluster has almost everything you could want stock. It has pop up headlights and a switch to pop them up without turning them on. Its a great car and all 3 models of rx7 are considered classics for a reason. Also its a car I've dreamed about since I was a young teen.

The only downsides are the mileage, the fact that my fc has no cup holders, and the rice tax on fds are outrageous. Also n/a to turbo conversions are a pita and you would be better off just swapping the drivetrain from a turbo II in or buying a turbo II and selling your n/a.
>>
>>16066299
sheit that almost tricked me into thinking it was an FD from the thumbnail

I've always liked how they look like mini c2 corvettes. One of the few post 74 cars I'd buy.

>RX7s are fantastic cars to drive, i love driving a stock 13btt and its is no slouch, but the love of rotaries is what they become with big ports and bigger turbos.

I sold my 7 to focus on my other projects, but its always nice to have a best friend with 2 FDs so you can go cruising together and not have to pay for rebuilds (pic related)
>>
>>16065514
Not him, but would you mind explaining why?
>>
>>16070205
It's an iron i6 that needs a turbo to make power. Completely ruins the weight balance for pretty much no benefit.
>>
>>16070279
>motor that needs a turbo to make power
sounds familiar
I6s should only be put in cars built around them though.
