A $10000 N54 is going to have some big fucking problems dude.

Even if $15k is your budget max, that's not 335i money. You could buy the car, sure, but the first surprise repair will end you.

If you have $10-12k and you want an old BMW, spend about $8-9k on an E46 and prepare your anus for whatever happens next.

OP, I suggest getting an N54 with less than 75k miles on it if you can, if not just opt for the N52 (328i engine).

And if you do get the 35i (n54) than have at least 2k-3k in emergency money just in case something goes wrong in the first few months, other than that its reliability is just like any car, only reason why poor fags who never owned a BMW milk the unreliability meme is because of the price of repairs, not the actual frequency.
