He had a few good points; first and second gear nannying sounds annoying, it's weird that they crushed the exhaust, and the throttle pedal deflection is a legit problem for anyone looking to drive the car hard. The rest is just him just looking for shit to complain about, and his mechanic bro that drove it was literally just "really? Shhheeeeiit... really?"-tier retardation.

The rs is not going to be all things to all people. It can't be. But it's a solid competitor to the sti at a similar price point (dealer markup notwithstanding) and a hell of a lot more performance.

Add some good coilovers not cheap ones and it will actually be faster on track

Dude, I own an e46 m3. You've clearly never driven one. You have to drive the balls off it and rev it to the moon (>4k) to get in the power band. In everyday driving situations I have to drop two (sometimes three) gears to hit the power band on the highway.

Don't get me wrong, I love my car and I don't mind sounding like a dick because I am one of the weirdos that loves the rasp of the exhaust, but the power band on the e46 m3 is way out of the "practical" rev range for your average daily driver. Just about any modern turbo bmw is going to give you more practical, usable power with less drama than my car.

The focus rs is like a cheap version of the new bmw 140i hatch with more boy racer parts and slightly more track oriented suspension/steering setup. It's less practical than any of its upmarket competitors (140i, golf r, etc), but faster than its Subaru counterpart.

The M3 is more satisfying to drive than any modern hot hatches, especially a 4 cylinder one like the RS
