Remove the passenger seat and get a lightweight (and very expensive) battery, replace all the body panels with carbon fiber, strip out the infotainment system and all the wires connected to it (a saving of 5 lbs at most).
At this point you've got a car that can't carry people, is wallet-rapingly expensive, isn't enjoyable to be in, and still only has a 350hp V6. Well done.

The 370z is a car that doesn't sell very well, and the dealer probably makes over $6k for each one sold. Knock $4k off and they're still making as much as from selling a higher volume car. That's better than no sale at all unless they're stupidly aggressive and think you're really going to cave and are dying to have the car at any price.

And if it's one that's been sitting on the lot for a long time and they want to get rid of it, dealers will sometimes sell at a loss.

The rename for America never made sense to me. 86 has some heritage to it, even if less than in Japan. FR-S has nothing.
