What is the perfect seat arrangement ?
Please cite your answer.
Me and my father are arguing.
Father:
>seat must not have a 90 degree angle.
>must be distant from the steering wheel arms bent at 120 degree
My case:
>steering wheel must be above femur (past your knee)
>back is 90 degree
>elbows angled at the image posted (but seat is higher)
everybody says its to close according to me.
and find it difficult to get in the car.
I'm 174 cm, my parents are shorter than me.
I was never much of a car guy till i got my first car... and once when I first started driving I was told my seat arrangement was set for track or rally.

Whatever is most comfortable for the driver in question and allows a full range of motion to operate everything they needs to and see everything.
i.e; personal preference
I drive a c10.
Bench seat, all the way back. 6ft, 200lbs male.
In cars, I try to replicate the angle of the bench seat back, and prefer the wheel above my thighs.
Arms at the top of the wheel, elbows bent significantly. Knees don't matter.
Cars have been redesigned in the past 20 years for air bags. This has but drivers further back and straighter armed. But it compromises control.
Whatever works.

ok thank you... finally.
I feel like im not in control of the car if im as far as my friends and family set the car seat.
i always have my seat belt on for safety, and have noticed i have a pretty quick rxn when it comes to getting control of the car.
>swerved from several accidents.
>also controlled a drifting mustang on wet surface that had worn out tires and 15 and 25 in the back tires...
Pro Italian Passione official driver ergonomic expert here
reclined 22 degrees
seat back at 100 degree angle from seat base
seat canted 10 degrees to right
pedal offset 6 inches inboard from spine
wheel 1 inch above knees and 1 inch below windshield
DID YOU KNOW
The auto industry standard is to design cars around someone that is 5'6 and 150lbs?
if your arms are bent too much you get tired really fast. probably not an issue with power steering though. in karting i noticed it a lot though my arms would start to pump at about 15-20 minutes.
id think as far back as comfortably possible in an FR car.

Doesn't seem to be a problem for 500 miles in a 3500 pound boat.
