Is S2000 best affordable sports car? Is Miata a loss.jpg meme in comparison?

These are in the same price range nowadays.
>>
>>16038583
Yes for buying. But not for owning. The Porsche can be substantially more expensive if repairs are needed and the probability of that is higher also. That's why I think S2000 has an edge here. It's better "bang for buck" all things considered.
>>
>>16038576
for a manlet, it dosent matter what car you get
>>
>>16038576
miata is a piece of shit compared to an s2000
this is undebatable
>>
>>16038583
The Boxster has an advantage in boot space though (with it's front frunk). The other this is badgewhoring but 1) it's a boxster 2) once you own a car you're much more concerned with how it drives/how much problems it gives you, than with the quasi status of the vehicle. I must admit that I also see Honda S2000 as a "lesser" vehicle because of the brand but it's probably the one I would like to drive for longer.
>>
>>16038592
Fair enough, though the Porsche has two trunks, making it more practical, and it's more comfortable.

It comes down to preference, really.
>>
>>16038600
I love comments like this.
>>
>>16038609
There's also an advantage: flat 6>ricer 4 banger.

https://youtu.be/f5HUQ3ntg_M

Also the s2000 is a real boiracer car with no power down low
>b-but all the power is up there!
Yes because having to rev it to 8k to get to highway speed is a reasonable way to drive.
>>
>>16038669
That can actually be a plus. For a street driven car you get to rev it out more. This can be fun. No not for autobahn speeds, but for normal roads. If you have a 3-4L engine you can't really use engine fully and be under speed limits. That's why people like miatas.
>>
>they didn't give the ND enough edge, it doesnt copy the S2000 enough
Stopped watching right there, his opinion is invalid.
>>
>>16038701
>reving the engine like a mongoloid everywhere you go
>is a plus

The S2000 is an overpriced mememobile. If you can find a clean one under 10k euros it might be worth it but right now it's about 11k to 14k and that is porsche money.
>>
>>16038701
Then you might as well get a miata
>>
>>16038752
Miata is for manlets only.
>>
>>16038701
>If you have a 3-4L engine you can't really use engine fully and be under speed limits. That's why people like miatas.

>what are gears

in my trans am first gear is 50mph at max rpm. its hitting 60mph at the beginning of 2nd

this is exactly like an AP1 S2000 and they run very similar 0-60 times. they rev to 9000 but first gear is still around 50mph.

i've raced an AP1 S2K and we were dead even until i hit the top of 2nd gear at 80mph. where he is shifting into 3rd
>>
>>16038808
>not being nearly as fast as a stock LS1 muscle car IN A DRAG in your lightweight 2 seater rwd sports car with racing level handling and braking

S2000 is the most overpriced nip shit the 21st century has seen.

I mean I'm looking to buy an s2k but he doesn't seem the most reliable person
Anyways the way things are looking they're going to be heading to above 20k within 6 months then the whole value for your dollar goes completely up in the air
>>
>>16038944
>>16038994
>>16039008

Oh wow I'm retarded I guess, assumed since they look so similar that GM used the speedster to make the kappa platform, forgot the speedster was MR
>>
>>16039223
Yeah, the Sky/GT used Opel's design language at the time, just like the Speedster. They share design cues (and possibly engines, not sure) but that's about it.
>>
>>16038576
c5 corvette is the best bang for the buck sports car you can buy
>>
No

Boxsters and Z3s are cheaper and more luxurious.
RX8 and 86 are cheaper when comparing equivalent condition cars and more practical.
Miata is lighter and cheaper.

All can be made nearly as fast within a reasonable budget. If you have to have Honda, if you have to have a piston engine with a 9k redline there's nothing like it. But practically speaking right now they are overpriced for what they are, but they win all the bench racing arguments so have fun with your memes.

> I don't want to hear anything about $10k s2ks you see all day on CL and Honda low maintenance costs, those shitboxes always need at least $3k dumped into them to unfuck what the OP did.

Okay, my fault I just looked at the exchange rate. God damn, now I just feel sorry for you guys.
>>
>>16038576
Is this bait? Even assuming you mean just like 2000+ year cars.

S2000 are stupidly expensive in America.
And even in Europe, the RX-8 is still cheaper for a significantly faster and better handling car.

And as bad as the RX-8's fuel economy is, the S2000's is no better.
>>
>>16039704
Looked up S2k prices where I live, and they're exactly on par with pic related.
>>
>>16039723
If I lived in Germany or a country that shared a border I would buy Porsche in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, in the states when that thing throws a rod you're basically buying the car again.
>>
>>16039704
Don't feel bad anon for that EU will always have the boxster. It's cheaper to maintain one than a S2000.
>>
>>16039731

Greetings from the UK

All are taken from roughly halfway down the first page of autotrader, past the insurance claims
>>
>>16039744
S2ks are overpriced here, and MX-5s seem to suffer from a bit of meme tax as well.
Here's the first couple of Boxsters.
>>
>>16039752
Seems like cars elsewhere are FAR more expensive than in the UK, thanks to the pound tanking over the past year or so you're now paying nearly double for comparable cars
>>
>>16039758
1.6 MX-5s are cheap, 1.8 models fetch a fair bit more.
This is a country that hates cars though.
>>
>>16038583
Don't fall for this shit meme

Why do Boxsters even exist?

They're the Nissan Micra of Porsches.

Nice, I'm fighting the urge to spend half of my yearly income on a rolls every day. Seems like you need to go several miles upscale to get a good deal these days, especially in the low countries

>tfw this beautiful bastard is a mere 47 miles from my house
>>
>>16039795
Here's the next few down, luxury cars seem to be priced a bit lower than sports cars for some reason.

One of these would kill my wallet in no time, but I'd almost be inclined to say it's worth it. Almost.
>>
>>16039817
If I wasn't driving 170 miles a day to and from work and college, I would buy one in a heartbeat
>>
>>16038576
>Rear bumpsteer
S2000 is trash and can't be made to handle properly without entirely reengineering the suspension geometry.
>>
>>16039795
Cost of the car doesn't matter. What you can't afford is fixing it.
>>
>>16039744
hello fellow bonglander. we have a better used car market here overall than any other country i can think of. but when i was car shopping last year a decent AP2 was still at least £8k. seems you can still only get AP1s for sub 5
>>
>>16039830
>What you can't afford is fixing it.
I was actually thinking more along the lines of feeding a 6 and 3/4 litre V8 when fuel is £1.15 a litre
>>
What about saturn sky redlines? I've been shopping around for one for ages. I know there is essentially no cargo space and the top sucks cock.

But fuck do they look good for the price point, and they're quick/good handling/
>>
>>16039855
>they're quick/good handling/

No they're not. They got shit reliability ratings too, inferior to every other drop top out there. Yeah it's got 20hp over the Boxster and S2k but it comes with two hundred extra pounds.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2006/10/saturn-sky-red-line/
>>
>>16039732
Nah, more because their countries are falling apart and their governments want their own people to die off.
>>
>>16039855
Toyota MR2 Spyder. I just got one and I couldn't be happier. Just make sure it's got good tires on it if you live somewhere that isn't dry.
>>
>Is S2000 best affordable sports car?
lol no. its an overpriced slow pos
>>
>>16040411
What year/mileage is on it? I want one of these too. Theres one selling by me for only like $7000.
>>
>>16038576
I never owned a Miata, but I did own an S2000 for a few years. They are good cars, but the early models aren't nearly as bulletproof as everyone likes to say. Checking oil at every fill up was mandatory, tire pressure had to be monitored religiously, the timing chain tensioner was known to go out, and never ever let the rear tires get anywhere near the warning marks. The early models were twitchy enough with a lot of meat on the tires. If you let them get bald, you were guaranteed to spin.

Considering all that, yes the S2000 is still the best affordable sports car but the owner should be a true enthusiast and be willing to put in the work to maintain it.
>>

>>
>>16040870

the car will probably end up like this
i dont like the look at all though
and itll probably be all wheel drive and auto only starting price 50k
>>
>>16040870
The next s2k will not be a shitty civic convertible 3 series
>>
>>16041049
IMS bearing thing is a meme, only affects about 10% of those cars and ones with faulty IMS bearings had them fail earlier on in their lives.

That being said however, Boxster is still not comparable to an S2000. The Honda S2000 is quite possible the best roadster ever produced.
The Boxster doesn't even come close.
>>
>>16041427
Nah bitch, it's a Honda. Anything BMW makes will wreck the fuck out of a Hondork, and girls all like BMWs so your logic is fucking flawed as shit. You fucking permavergin. Are you poor and can't afford a BMW?

How expensive is an S2000 vs a C5Z right now?
