The roads here are straight as fuck with only hills to break up the monotony. They are all in shitty condition due to the heavy oilfield traffic, full of potholes and shit repairs. The watertrucks and oil trucks cover the highways with mud, gravel, and oil. Looking to pick up an armor leather jacket and have narrowed it down to this three. Liking the style of the firebird but worried that it might be too hot to use in Southern California weather. I don't have the money for two bikes, and if I did it wouldn't be my top priority. Even so, the most annoying thing I can imagine would be changing tires, which is why I mentioned getting a second set of rims -- put slicks on those, swap wheels at the track. Removing indicators and mirrors and taping over the headlight isn't a huge deal. It's a naked bike so I don't have many fairings to swap either.

I live in Germany, we have A2 licenses instead of LAMS shit. Neither the Hornet nor the XJR can be ridden with an A2 license so it's unlikely that noob tax is the reason. In fact, I'd argue the noob bikes are cheaper because they are more plentiful and have a higher turnaround (as in, people keep them for a shorter time than they might a more powerful bike).
