Why is the Miata the only affordable sports car?

I remember watching a 24 hours of Lemons race on youtube and there was a FWD Buick sedan just handing either a Miata or a rusted MR2 its ass. didn't think though things could turn at all..

Does /o/, people, you look at "affordable" in the sense that the car has to be in perfect mechanical and physical condition with a low price. Or do people look at an "afforable" sports cars that meed minimal work that you dont mind doing?

The miata is a sports car. Its no point arguing to 4chan, though.

OP, the reason the miata is the only cheap sports car is that manufacturers have completely forsaken the segment for the last 20 years. They'd rather put turbos on economy cars, deck them out in leather, sell them for $32k, and call it a day.
