I love Palomar, it's a really fun drive. However, on a Saturday between 9a and 4p, it's always going to be very, VERY clogged. Huge numbers of people know about this road. A successful meet for Palomar will be planned several weeks in advance for a timeframe that actually functional and it's absurd to say that the SD folks are throwing anything in anyone's face just because they've told OP that the time he's chosen (with no discussion in the thread as to other options) will be a terrible time for any kind of car meet.

There will be tons of traffic. There will be tons of cyclist groups taking up the entire lane not letting anyone pass. There will be tons of motorcycle clubs.

Doing Palomar at 10:30a on Sat is a terrible choice. That is simply factual, not subjective and aimed to hurt OPs little feelies

We've had palomar meets at 1 in the afternoon with little or no traffic every time. It's convenient for everyone else who isn't in SD because it allows travel to and from the meet during reasonable hours. Because fuck getting up early on Saturday, and fuck driving back late and fatigued.
