>>16034906
I'd say the Honda NSX takes the overall first place

No, it was not a balls-to-the-wall, super-high-performance four wheeled spacecraft, and to me that's part of what makes it so good

It was competent in it's segment, even with cars that out-powered it, and despite the fact that you could do your daily commute and not get beat up (and most importantly, you wouldn't have as much downtime, since the car won't be constantly in the workshop having little things done to it or, say, getting it's engine pulled out for the 30k-miles-or-one-year timing belt change and water/oil pump inspections...)

Overall, it was excellent for what it was: a two door, two seat, mid-engine, RWD sports car, especially considering price (and it did all this while delivering long-term reliability, as well)

Although it wasn't the TU-160 of sports cars, breaking minds and world records left and right, it was a big game changer for many people and automakers (need I mention the influence it had on the original McLaren F1?)

For the first year or two after it came out the only things that could really compete were other expensive MR exotics and the R32 GTR.

Over the course of its production, though the MK4 Supra, FD, and VR4, and Corvette C5 came out, which were all cheaper and with similar or better performance.

>>
>>16036568
Performance wise, C4 corvettes drank the fuck out of its milkshake. You don't have to wait for a C4, you just have to find a C4 with the harsh suspension.

What made the NSX great was the experience, and the fact that it was styled such that the Tifosi couldn't ignore the fact that it was a cheaper, better car than a Ferrari.

Because they were ignoring the cars like the Supra, Corvette, 300zx, and 3000GT solely because they weren't MR.

The NSX didn't just perform at that mid 90s exotic level, it looked it, and it felt like it.

E36 M3? Are you shitting me?

Heavier than the FD. Slower than the FD. Not nearly as tuneable as the FD. Doesn't handle as well as the FD.

Inb4 you post their ad stating it's the best handling car in America; that ad came out after the FD was discontinued in America. They literally had to wait for the FD to leave the states before they could publish that ad. Go fuck yourself.

I think the E36 is a cool looking car, but nothing comes close to the FD in terms of sexiness, except the E-type.
>>
>>16037138
*considerably heavier than the FD
Also way harder to lose weight on the E36. You can strip an FD down to 2500 pounds and keep the interior, easy
>>
>>16037097

oh wow, fwd shitbox
>>
>>16037147
the gsx was awd and you can convert the gst to awd
>>
>>16037138
did you even read what the E36 and F1 poster says?
that poster is about the euro M3 which came with nearly 100hp more than tbe US M3
and they released the "best handling car" poster after the c&d article was published
>>16036598
>>
>>16037186
I know the E36 M3 came with a lot more power in Europe. It's still slower. The E46 euro spec CSL is still slower than the FD--in a straight line, nevermind a track. Neither handle as well, either, and are both much heavier and way more difficult to tune.
>>
>>16034906

this thread is so fucking autistic it hurts.

Nobody cates about your fucking busrider doritos.

Any answer not saying Maclaren F1 is just plain wrong.

When it came out it was so fucking superior to anything that it hurt. Competitors needed ten years to get something in the same ballpark.

And I don't like maclarens, but to each their own.

According to lap times, the E46 CSL is 2 seconds faster around Tsukuba and faster for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times
And the Euro E36 M3 is 5 seconds faster on Phillip Island
Sure the RX7 is fast for 255hp but it's not faster than the M3, let alone the E46 CSL
>>
>>16037211
Right, if you compare the slowest FD to the fastest M3s. The series 8 was pushing 300 horsepower, and everything before that was a constant improvement over the original 255. I don't think there are many lap times available for each (minor) revision, but maybe someone can post the pic where it bested the Supra, Porsche 911 turbo, et cetera on the track and skid pad

Plus, if we delve into modifications, you can up the boost on the FD for next to nothing. You need serious cash to even make another 20 horsepower out of either M3. Comparing completely stock cars favours the M3 because the FD was made to be tuned, it was literally an unstressed package with perfect everything (except vacuum system and cooling). Considering all that, it's pretty embarassing that the slowest FD, untouched, with the most restrictive, shitty and heavy exhaust system, can run with the M3 which is a finished product that cost over twice as much

>>16037300
Is that all you have to say? Boosting a CSL is fucking expensive, and it still weighs so much. I'd put money on an FD being able to beat that track time without spending more than 10 grand from stock.

Oh wait, that's already happened.
