Is there an engine that causes more asshurt than the LS? It's a pushrod V8 that's about as big as a OHC straight 4 and an it weighs less than 400lbs/181kg (the ls1 weighs 390lbs/177kg).

Rotaries. Every bus rider that's subscribed to Jalopshit has to say his piece about how bad they are because some cuck journo thinks so.

The LS is just the LS. It's primitive, has plenty of aftermarket support and gets the job done. Some swaps are great, others not so.
>>
>>16019908
LS can still fit in the same bay designed for the 1.8 so it's not much bigger if at all with the equipment.

The accessories fit pretty close in the footprint of the LS, depending on which brackets you have. I think the truck brackets meant for the 4.8 and 5.3 are a little wider and taller

That is the most fucking awesome reason why rotaries are great I have ever heard. Every thread bagging our a rotary needs to have this as a standard response. Nothing else needed.

Also, I own a miata and would love to have an LS in it. I think the only time people get really annoyed (or pretend to be) is when the FD gets a swap, as they're a current and future classic

To answer the question honestly, I really don't think there is. The SBC is cheap, plentiful, compact, simple, light, and reliable all the while making good power.

It's funny how much hate LS-swapped cars get when they end up significantly faster than what they used to be. The amount of butthurt and dirty looks when an SBC finds its way into a non-GM car is always off the charts when brand purists get chime in.
>>
>>16019894
you're forgetting the part where they have pushrods and make all their power between 3000 and 5000rpm.
>>
>>16019894
that's a pretty sweet old truck engine OP!

sucks that people still think it belongs in a performance car 40years later.
>>
Can we just settle things with the agreement that Americans are good engine builders if they actually try but have a habit of slapping horrid garbage around their powerplants?
>>
>>16021087
no because they value torque more than hp which is fucking retarded.
>>
>>16021094
In daily drivers maybe where it actually makes sense for stop and go traffic (nothing worse than having to accelerate from a standstill over and over in a shitbox with a tiny engine that you have to rev to the moon before letting out the clutch), but all their performance engines are similar balanced as ours. Roughly equal figures in hp and lbft.

>>16020304
People also put 2JZs and 20Bs in FDs all the time too.

No there isn't. I'm a ford fanboi4lyfe but even I have to admit, if you want big power in a relatively small package for dirt cheap, a basic chev 350 will stomp the shit out of anything in it's price range, If you upgrade to the LS you will stomp the shit out of anything in your price range and get decent mpg while you're at it.

Coyote is like identical dimensions and weight to a ls but it isn't retarded ohv shit
>>
>>16022365
The coyote takes up about as much engine bay as the old 460 due to the huge twin cam heads it has sitting on top of it. I love the coyote, but ls offers a lot more cubes in a smaller package.

And yet the 5.0L coyote has the power of a 6.2L LS6
>>
>>16022809
No arguments there, however, the ls has a much larger and cheaper aftermarket. As well as many more ls engines in existence. Hence their ability to cause unprecedented butthurt. That being said, I'm super excited to see what the future holds for the coyote and its derivatives.
>>
>>16019917
leave the 1uz out of this you animal, we like ls1s too
>>
>>16022630
We are not arguing about what is better though, we are arguing if any other motor has caused as much butt hurt as the ls, I would argue no. The 351W may have features of it's design that make it a superior motor to the 350 chevy, however, there are far fewer 351ws in existence than 350sbcs, there are also many more vehicles that can accept a 350sbc without modification, and more sbc swap kits. Lastly, until recently it was significantly more expensive to get aftermarket ford parts than chevy parts, so your horsepower per dollar value was better for the sbc.

TL;DR you can ls/350 swap almost anything.
The cost to get 400hp out of said motors is stupid low.
Best mpg, no
Most hp/displacement, no
Ability to turn small amounts of cash into large amounts of power, and be shoehorned into almost anything with a prefab drop in kit off the internet, YES.
>>
>>16023038

This^^^ what a clapped out third gen with a worked over junkyard 350 may lack in in the corners, it will make up for in the straights. at least against stuff in the /o/ poorfag price range.
>>
>>16023038
you are proving the 351w is causing more butthurt

>TL;DR you can ls/350 swap almost anything.
>The cost to get 400hp out of said motors is stupid low.
>Best mpg, no
>Most hp/displacement, no
>Ability to turn small amounts of cash into large amounts of power, and be shoehorned into almost anything with a prefab drop in kit off the internet, YES.

you can do the same with the 351w

> however, there are far fewer 351ws in existence than 350sbcs
irrelevant
you can go to ebay and buy an f250 block for like 250 dollars

>there are also many more vehicles that can accept a 350sbc without modification
all of them are GM trash

> more sbc swap kits
the only part kit you really need ona swap kit are motor mounts and doing them by yourself is cheaper
>>
>>16022630
>being a commie and into cars

How does that work? Isn't the reason we have none-boring cars because of a competitive market?
