Noticed this silver Merc shape, thought it was just an SL, then went "hang on, that thing has massive gills" and did a double take. They're surprisingly subtle, until the driver steps on the gas.
>>16017881
Id say the same thing but history will remember the countach as a bigger icon for the brand.
>>16017600
I'd be pretty cool to own either, but I like the Huracan more if I'm buying a $200k super car
>>16017881
Absolutely agree

I think so, too. It's one of my favorite supercars of the 2000s era because it was the only one that was designed to be comfy, but still have enough performance to keep up with other contemporary supercars.
I do remember it getting a lot of hate because of it's styling which looks awful from certain angles. Looking too much like the R230 SL-Class didn't help with the styling criticisms. The fact that it used a worked-over version of the SL 55 AMG V8 and transmission and a roadster version being released further draws allusions to the SLR just being a big SL.
Still, it was one of the only cars of its day that is meant to be an every day supercar. Despite his complaints of Mercedes negatively influencing the design of the car, Gordon Murray did a good job. Jay Leno even still enjoys his SLR over a decade since he bought it (even though he's a well known Mercedes fanboi).

The devil himself wouldn't have the balls to drive one of these. The de-restricted Speed Twelve engine, an atmo 7.7l V12 blew up the 1,000 hp-rated dyno.
The project was canned after Peter Wheeler, owner of TVR at the time and an experienced racer in his own right, tried driving a finished prototype home and shit his pants because it was so crazy. This was something too extreme for a company that didn't think twice about selling high powered British death machines without ABS and power steering to the public.

That's why I respect that car so much.
Even Jay Leno would agree. His episode on his SLR is great
C&c this month.
GOAT Short-tail GTR livery coming through.

And a mclaren. There were like four of them here this month.. MN does surprisingly have some nice cars.
>>16020030
That car was overrated.
It's the vehicular equivalent of an MMA fighter who talks a big game, but gets schooled in the first round and then blames it on an old injury or something.
>>16020095
And another mclaren.. Didn't get any pictures of the Mercedes/bmws/Porsches. There were a solid 30 cars in the show representing each company. Each of those company's cars look exactly the same. Can't tell the difference between a Boxster and a 911, nor a 3 series and an m series. kind of boring imo.

Nice pics man

The Saleen S7 was more of a true successor to the GT40 than the 2005 GT ever was.
>>16020714
How many S7s did they even make? I know they made a turbocharged version later but neither has been in production for years
>>16017853
Nigga have you seen the secondhand slr market? Its 260k minimum to own one.. Its not a depreciating, unloved supercar.

Those cars were about $450k when new. They lost almost half their value in the last decade.
>>16018235

You might be right, but the Diablo was far more important car for Lamborghini. It carried the company all the way through to '90s and was the only model Lamborghini sold for most of the decade. For 7 straight years, Lamborghini could only rely on a single model of car giving the Diablo the longest record of being the only new Lamborghini available at any one time.
