that textured silver plastic is fucking atrocious

Agreed.
I hate both that meme and the carbon fiber overlay meme.
I even hate when it's the carbon fiber fake peel over dry carbon hash. Fuck off and just expose the carbon hash, that shit looks nice.
>>16015974
This one is pretty nice, though. Piano black is the best texture for plastic trims.

all those cheap japanese interiors with the cheapest and shittiest plastic possible. fuck of poorfags
>>16017353
I prefer Swedish quality
>>16016199
They usually have a 2 or 3 options for the interior look. I can only guess what the other 2 were.
>/o/ including myself love the concept of futuristic from the 80's and 90's

Why? Are we biased?
>>16017388
still looks pretty pleb
>>16014474
This car will make me hate driving in the daylight.
>>16017406
The conception of the future in the 80s and 90s is significantly different from that of today.
A lot less clear shape and geometry, a lot more curves.
No concise interface, but one that is minimized instead, cutting all unnecessary details instead of efficiently packing them.
In a sense, the futurism of these two decades was trying to go as far as you could while remaining pragmatic. The current take on the future takes the opposite approach and considers what is possible according to an overaching concept, pushes it as far as it can and adds in the aesthetic element. You start from the idea and get to the drawing room whereas a lot of 8s and 90s prototypes clearly started as images rather than concepts/ideas.

>>16020378
no need for a 5th gear in a Corvette that can only go 85 miles per hour
>>16014474
>compass in the dash
>>16020378
Doug Nash 4+3.
It's a 4 speed manual with an extra automatic overdrive that kicks in from gears 2-4.
Unfortunately for those transmissions, they loved to shit the bed utterly and were quickly replaced with a 6 speed manual.
>>16018344
Nice riced Volvo interior.
>>16014474
Is that a fucking lateral G meter? If so that's pretty funny because it only goes up to 0.5g. Pretty much any car can hit 0.5g in a turn.
>>16020875
Dependability aside, it sounds horribly complicated to go through one automatic gear change between each manual gear change.
>>16020967
You can manually enable and disable the automatic overdrive. It's a static gear ratio that actually only involves one gear shift inside the automatic portion.
From my understanding, if you enable it and shift with the manual lever, you won't need to wait for another automatic shift. You'll just be shifting the next two at a higher speed.
Novel idea, but as said, the sheer lack of reliability these gearboxes had probably told GM to just ditch the idea and perform a more simple method of just throwing in a manual box with more gears.
>>16016844
Are you retarded? Who taught you shapes?
>>16021023

Fuck lads. Is there a way to put a digital dash into a car without one? I'd honestly be willing to pay like $500 to do so
>>16021460
They're a pain in the ass to read in daylight, glare's bad
>>16017347
It connects this way (pic related).
The angle makes it look like the part connecting the wheel to the dash is part of the dash itself.

full pull for standard
rotate it to adjust dash brightness

>28 years on and it still feels crisp and exact
>thats the knob of the berlin wall, non-water based paint and teutonic mullets
nothing rattles, nothing squeaks, everything works, everything is where it should be, even smells good, and i need a sports seat and a racing steering wheel for 2m my tall ass for to fit
i love it
late 80`s early 90`s german cars, they really dont build them like that anymore.
>>16022039
that doesnt stop it from being a truly awful to look at interior
>>16018875

That's an octagon you dip. Not to mention that you drew it over a circle
>>16023090
This may be the most moronic thing I've ever seen. Tracing an octagon over a circle does not mean that a circle is an octagon.
>>16023090

>>16014462
why does that interior look like star-wars-episode-IV-on-S-VHS kind of cool
>>16014931
You and me both.
>>16014384
To be entirely honest, I'm too depressed at this point to make any meaningful distinction between varying interiors. I think anything that had air conditioning and didn't smell or have stains would be entirely reasonable.
>>16014384
My 1984 maxima shares the same vents/ ac controls as this and it makes me love it
I don't like the front end, but that wrap around dash is nice
need to get the aluminum dash in mine. not a fan of the carbon fiber.
>>16022039
This thread is about how things look, not how things work. And that looks bad.
>>16024853
It's very similar to the Lincoln Mark VIII, although I think the Lincoln did it a little better.
>>16016439
>>16017353
The only flaw with E30 interiors are their lack of cup holders. Apart from that they're comfy as fuck.
>>16025304
Only the AW11 interior can tie with this.
>>16014462
if you're trying to say that's not aesthetic then you're sorely mistaken
a greek pedestal would fit in anywhere in that interior
>>16018967
They say the original concept Alcyone had a greek pillar as a seat
>>16017353
Such cheap
Much plastic!
Poor!
>>16024224
This is the first thing I look for in any car.
The 05-12 acura RL had a nice compartment hidden inside the glovebox with a hidden release that could hold a full some 1911 or Glock 21 without an issue.
These always did the "sweeping dashboard" right, along with the Lincoln mk8.
The center stack buttons are not that bad. The mid2000's multi use controller is a little out pf control, but when you sit in the driver's seat, it all makes sense. Very driver oriented without being in your face.
>>16026389
Hopefully this pic isn't distorted
>>16026371
Gun should be kept ON you, not in a compartment. If someone runs into you to rob, kill, or kidnap you, compartments can get stuck and jammed and the access time is longer.
>>16025572
>if you're trying to say that's not aesthetic
What gave you that impression? He didn't imply anything, OP asked for aesthetic interiors and he posted a picture. He didn't even say anything. Anything other than that you're inferring from his post is your own projection.
>>16026391
the center stack is ugly
