Interesting.
When I search for "my BMW i3" I mostly get to see slightly overweight middle aged men with this particular car
>>16012135
BMW, Porsche, and others are trying to make their "Tesla killers". these cars appeal to the same tech-nerds who were never into cars until they heard of Tesla. seems like they have to play catch-up now because Tesla has already established itself as THE Electric car company and while others can make their own Electric cars people just won't think "Electric" when they think BMW or Porsche they will think Tesla.
That's what i get from it anyway. anyone who can designed a lightweight nimble electric sports-car from the ground up without using an existing chassis and without charging a fuckton of money will have my love in the electric car market forever.
>>16012225
>without using an existing chassis
but why?
the lotus chassis is preddy gud and it keeps costs lower than developing own shit.
>>16012253
What about battery placement?
>>16012267
shit has to advance anyways.
having the whole floor filled with batteries is idiotic, so they HAVE TO get this shit smaller.

I'd imagine this is what Apple cars will look like.

Picture book case of why that perma-constipated look doesn't work on EVERY CAR like modern designers want to believe.
I actually like this car.
>>16012253
I know i know, but i wanted to see something that was designed entirely around being electric powered in the form of a sports-car instead of sticking batteries to a normal car. a Electric lotus won't preform as good as a gas powered one with how much batteries weigh though and i was hoping that a manufacturer will truly think outside the box like Warren Mosler did when he made his first car that weighed next to nothing and destroyed everybody. but maybe i'm asking for too much. Maybe parts of the Chassis itself can be made out of batteries?
>>16012225
i3 was released long before the model x.
it doesn't compete with tesla, it's not even the same demographic
elon fanboys are so cringy

some men, world, burn, etc etc
>>16012320
Not a Tesla fan just a fuck up on my part. i did hear Porsche call one of their electric cars that they were planning a tesla killer though.

Source: drove one for a year as a company car. Fucking sucked.

They're really proud of their electronic fuckery that is supposed to "fix" all those shortcomings of thin tires though.
Not sure how far they can "defeat" physics.

>>16013173
Heard you were talking shit, like I wouldn't find out
>>16012313
No idea if the designers of this actually thought outside of the box but it's performance is supposed to be fucking insane.
Unrelated but I think the Koenigsegg Direct Drive transmission is an example of a manufacturer (albeit a small one) thinking outside of the box.
>The patent-pending KDD replaces the combustion engine’s traditional transmission – the gearbox as you know it is removed from the car. In its place, the KDD provides direct drive to the rear axle from the combustion engine without the need of multitude gears or a variable transmissions, all of which have inherently high energy losses.

2. People with more money than sense that like to think about themselves they are somehow better and conscious (read:smug) while in reality they are buying into same consumerist scheme as regular cars.
