I got my Mustang in May, it will be my first winter with RWD car. How fucked am I?? I do have Blizzaks waiting to be put on though. Any tips?
>>
>>16003986
I winter drove my mustang it was fine
good tires do wonders, just be gentle with the throttle
I found that the rear end never kicked out unless I did it on purpose
>>
>>16004256

This. RWD in snow is definitely worse than AWD in snow and somewhat worse than FWD in snow (because not enough weight over drive wheels) but it's still fine with snow tires. Tires make the biggest difference. You can get away with all seasons in light snow and in places where roads get plowed quickly, but you'll get pissed the moment a real blizzard hits. I've seen a bunch of people get fucked in deeper snow because their All Seasons can't get enough traction once the snow starts getting a bit deeper.

Those look like WS80's

Just dont drive like a retard and be mindful of how low your car is sitting - you'll be fine

RWD can do just fine in most situations, and they're fucking fun to throw around
>>
>>16004319
Yep WS80s, good eye. Picked up a very lightly used tire/wheel set off craigslist.
>>
>>16004447
You can always put something heavy in the boot if you're struggling for traction, but with modern winter tires this is rarely necessary

What size are they?
>>
>>16004301
Proper tires are a given, as well as chains. RWD isn't that bad if you just get some weight over the rear axle. I used to put sandbags in the bed of my pickup. For my volvo I'm gonna use some concrete tiles. Not driving like a retarded shitdick and using your gears right helps a good deal, too.

We got the first "real" snow of the season today (not even 1/2 inch), and a buddy of mine who works at a local tire shop said that people had been calling the 24h "emergency phone" all day, asking about getting their tires swapped and buying new tires

So it begins...

>>16005213
Trust me, norbro. I hang my head in shame at how badly most danes drive. Most people only change to winter tires after the first snowfall and it seems like people jusy lock completely up in fear or lack any respect for the weather when it finally comes. I've had people come at me in the wrong lane, clip my mirrors when they had a metre to spare on their right hand side and stop on the middle of a hill in a blizzard to get out and knock snow off their wipers. What the fuck, right?
>>
>>16003538
Sadly the aforementioned retards are also the reason why there are very few E30's in running condition. The rare few carry a hefty Finnish rally-meme tax.
>>
>>16003181
The snow will thaw faster than the car can overheat.
I'd be more concerned with snow getting pushed into belts, suspension joints and wiring harnesses.
>>
I've got stock tires marked M+S, and I've also got a second set of wheels fitted with studded ones.
When do I put the studded ones on?

You need a headgasket or a heater core.

If the heater core is clogged for some reason could it be interrupting the coolant flow of the entire system, or is it on an aux line away from the main flow?

>>
>>16009532
Heater core won't interrupt entire system, but you need to find out where your coolant and combustion gases are going. A compression test will find low cylinders but a leakdown check will more precisely find out if your head gasket failed.

If your heater core doesn't get hot that suggests low coolant which suggests coolant loss which would be indicated by overheating.

Since posting details is against board rules I won't ask you if you checked your coolant and examined the color, or checked oil to see if it's contaminated. Neither will I ask year, make or model because all engines are identical throughout the universe so only 4chan memestyle nodetailzposting is correct.
