Why do people think this car is worth $18k ?
>>15990466
Why do people who have no understanding of car markets cry about shit they can't afford?
Cause people buy them for 18k.
>>15990466
leather bucket seats
9000 red line
240 horse power
great handling
honda reliability
attractive exterior
not a miata
Honda
motorized soft top
short throw shifter
objectively one of the best clutches in a stock car
not a gay miata
>>15990474
>>15990472
I can afford it. I just don't think it's worth $18,000 - and neither does anyone on /o/ because when you ask them why, they just cite some retarded shit from EngineeringExplained
>>15990481
>neither does anyone on /o/ because when you ask them why
stop baiting
>>15990481
>I can afford it.
I'm sure you can
>I just don't think it's worth $18,000
Then don't pay $18000 for one.
Like really, why are you complaining? No one's forcing you buy one.
>>15990476
The fact that it's not a miata is its best selling point.
>>15990466
Where the fuck are these 18k? Around here a decent stock one is 10k. Heavily modded ones barely break 17k
>>15990476
This isn't a Miata either and it's in the same price range as the S2k.
>>15990608
Opposite of honda reliability
Nazi ass engine reliability also ugly wanna 911
>>15990640
Most recent Porsches are a long way from unreliable.
>>15990646
926 Boxters were not renowned for their reliability
Electronics were prone to shitting themselves IIRC
Thats why they are so cheap now
Sortal like F355s and their bronze valves or whatever that costs like $15k to fix, there is a damn good reason you are paying so little now.
>>15990667
Electronics and IMS bearing failure, the latter especially is what ruined their value.
It's a fairly small fix though, and they're solid cars otherwise.
>>15990679
Kinda ugly and rather girly for a porsche
S2K, Miata, older air cooled 911 are among the better options
>burgers never got GM's Elise with a bodykit and engine swap
>>15990599
I haven't looked recently (I should be since I want to sell mine), but the only reason to pay that much would be if its in showroom condition with under 20k miles.
In a desirable color, with a factory hardtop.
>>15990679
I own a 986
not a 926. No such thing.
I am not aware of any electrical problems involving cars like mine, or the 996. Their only problem is the IMS issue that scares away normies, which is as simple as replacing the 150 dollar bearing with a new one with each clutch job. Nothing special.
the ONLY electronics related issue i am aware of is regarding the microswitches in the key, its either a 30 minute fix DIY that costs a dollar or upto $200 to have a new key reprogrammed by the dealership.
>>15990640
the 996 was designed to look like the boxster, not the other way around.
>>15990691
of all those 3 the boxster is the most comfortable and most spaceous in terms of trunk size.
>>15990705
996 was ugly as shit too
993 master race
>>15990696
Wasn't the actual Lotus Elise sold in the states? whats the point?
>>15990716
2.2l NA or 2.0l tarbo Ecotec engines.
>>15990710
ok
>opinions
i personally like the fried eggs
really though they're nowhere near as bad as people like to imply.
>and at the end of the day, would you rather tell people you drive a porsche, or a honda/toyota/mazda? ;)
and you're not a real enthusiast until you've owned a midship.
>>15990724
my 70's corvette is FM
check mate
Although I do badly want an SW20 MR2, just to spend a bunch of shekels on wider tires and suspension mods and make it the slowest car in the straights and the fastest in the corners
>>15990724
Oh, and if the IMS does fail and grenades the engine (or you buy one with failed IMS bearing for next to nothing), an NA 911 engine is an easy swap and even things like an Audi 4.2l V8 bolt up to the transmission and easily fit in the engine bay. Could be pretty cool if you figure out the wiring.
>>15990466
Is this going to be a daily thread now?
>>15990599
AP1s aren't that much, but late AP2s hit the upper 20's.
SCCA solo II. Does everything slightly better then the Miat.
>>15990466
I don't know what supply and demand is and I'm probably poor.
How much are replacement tops for those? They all seem to tear at the upper inside top corners after a few years.
