Things i don't like about my 2017 wrx

>key ignition
>stock windsheild wipers are terrible
>trunk doesn't lift on its own when popped
>annoying super loud chirps when it's locked/unlocked
>terrible speakers/audio
>seats are ok, but could be much better
>overall cheap interior
>laughable center armrest even with the extension
>faggy clown car sounding horn
>tpms is basic doesn't display psi of each tire

I know they don't have to do much to sell the wrx but fuck, put some effort into it subaru. No 2017 car should have a key ignition. That drives me crazy.

To any other 2nd gen GT owners: have you done anything to the suspension?

I get a lot of body roll when cornering so im wondering if upgrading my sway bars would help
>>
>>15987976
Unless you plan on tracking it, I'd say go with the WRX. It has a much better ride more suitable for daily driving. They also have the new 2.0 engine which delivers peak torque way earlier in the revs (and for much longer) than the old 2.5 in the STI does. On top of that you can throw a cobb tuner on there and bring the WRX up to the power levels of the STI (or even higher)

>>
>>15988135
I don't own a 2nd gen, but I can tell you that upgrading the sway bars is probably the most impactful thing you can do to improve your car's handling. Or maybe second most impactful behind upgrading tires.

Although if you do, you should also replace the sway bar end links, they're made of a resin/plastic and don't hold up very well when using a beefier sway bar than they were designed for. Aftermarket metal end links are much stronger.
>>
>>15988428
Yeah I figured I'd do the endlinks while I was at it. The main problem is finding a decent set since there isn't a crazy amount of aftermarket for my car

Yea I'm thinking about a new 2017 WRX as my new Daily Driver. I'm seriously considering it. It seems like a nice vehicle and I just learned to drive stick a few months ago. I have a honda civic now but I don't like it and want something more fun.

How is the clutch? is it linear and smooth and easy to use or does it bite really quick? I know it takes premium fuel and shit which is like 50 cents more a gallon, is it worth that extra cost?

I was looking at the base model because the Premium and Limited models don't have anything special to them making it worth the extra cost?
>>
>>15989422
Personally, I like how the clutch works, but everyone is different. You should really go to a dealer and take one for a test drive, that way you can judge for yourself rather than relying on what other people have to say.

It's not as importanf ror a used car, since if it turns out you don't like it you can turn around and resell it for roughly the same you bought it for. But if you buy a new car you're going to take a huge hit from depreciation if you end up not liking it and want to sell it.
>>
>>15989483
Do you think its worth leasing?
>>
>>15989541
I don't think anything is worth leasing.
>>
>>15989546
Do you think the premium or limited versions are worth the extra cost?

Also this is might be my first manual car thats my DD, should I be worried about how I maintain my car's clutch and stuff? how do I know if a clutch is worn if I choose to buy one used or something?

Sir i think you bought the wrong car. You want a bmw or benz. Everyone knows subies have cheap insides. Also I think push button was an option. Why the fuck do you need the tpms so show each tire pressure. You check it with a gauge b4 you leave.

If it slips alot then it's worn. Not sure how else to describe that. As long as you don't launch it all the time or ride the clutch on hills clutches last for a long time.

serious question but who calls flat/boxer engines "H4" or "H6" engines?

is it an american thing or a european thing?

usually when someone says H engine i think of pic related.
>>
>>15989760
well the MSRP on the 2017 WRX in upstate NY is 27k

I bet I can get at least 1k off that price in negotiation, but the premium is 2k more for some things and I doubt LED headlights are worth 2k
>>
>>15989747
Mine was more than a base STI, since I also picked up the HK audio system, navigation, and the sport package with the catback exhaust, short shifter, and STI wheels. All in all it was like $37k out the door.

Seems like a lot for a WRX when the STI is $35, but that's a base model. An STI with all the things I got in the WRX would have been like $48k. I mean I could have afforded to do that, but I specifically wanted the WRX over the STI because of the better power distribution and the more comfortable suspension.
>>
>>15989750
Pretty much. Basically if the engine speed increase without the vehicle's speed increasing, then your clutch is slipping.
>>
>>15989810
>>15989750
So Slipping is when its in gear and the car doesn't increase speed when the engine revs up?

It's a fancy CVT that emulates an automatic transmission by shifting through fake gears. If you're in the market for a WRX chances are this isn't something you want unless you have no idea how to operate a manual transmission.

And then I installed this on top of that:
http://www.subispeed.com/2015-subaru-wrx/interior/arm-rests/subaru-oem-extended-arm-rest-2015-wrx-2015-sti

It brings it up and forward enough to rest my elbow in it while still reaching the shifter

How is that possible if the catalytic converter is after the turbo?
>>
>>15997653
Yeah figures. I mean if it's from a 2007 sti it can't be that different... But I'd have to buy a hood with a scoop too. But if it was gonna fit well it seems like an easy modification for some easy gains.
>>
>>15997897
There's another in the uppipe, not the one in the downpipe.
>>
>>15997983
The hood scoops are for pushing air through the turbo intercooler, not for the engine's air supply. A cold air intake usually runs into the fender or the bumper.
