Recently traded my Lexus SC300 for it. Had to do some work to it but I love it now so here's a list of what's done what what I did.

My work :
Headgasket had to be replaced which is out of my skill level so I had a bmw certified shop replace it and all cooling systems, and all gaskets involved. Head ended up being shaved by .010 and a stronger HG.
Renown 100 motorsports steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather with M colors.
Re painted wheels because they looked like they had leprosy.
Recently put some small light pods in the fog lights as Touge lights
Fixed bulb problems

When I was 22 I took the keys to my dad's c6 z06 and raced a 996 turbo side by side on a two lane road at 3 in the morning. I was in the wrong lane, but the road was totally flat so you could see for miles. Was into 5th gear and saw 170mph/273kph on the HUD. At that speed passenger reported about 4 car lengths in front of the turbo. Was actually very stable at that speed. The problem was we had to brake quite quickly because of a stoplight, and the car became slightly unsettled at that point. Was the only time I did this and it was irresponsible, but my adrenaline still flows when I think about it. The 911 driver (my good friend) later died in a wreck while riding passenger in a 335i.

My vehicles speedo stops at 85mph but I passed my friend who was going 105mph. So faster than that somehow

It was all highway driving on I55 south through MS, so I didn't steer. I didn't dare move the wheel at that speed anyway and just kept it steady. The steering wheel was shaking, the hood was fluttering on the latches, and my ski goggles and hearing protection didn't do much.

Getting to that speed took a few miles of slow climbing up the tach to ~3800rpm with the pedal on the floor. I backed off because the engine is 20 years old and I didn't want to break a connecting rod in the middle of a cross country move.

Wheels are 31". Rear diff is 4.11:1. The manual AX-5 overdrive is 0.8:1 iirc. Pic related. It's getting a carb'd SBC/Chebby drivetrain transplant atm and will be a modest crawler with 2-3x the hp as before.
