Got back from my ride, the twisty roads were actually really nice, they have a 80-90km/h speedlimit and can easily be ridden at 120 with no brakes, best riding I've had since I moved here. On a map they don't look impressive but there's a huge amount of elevation change between each group of turns, +/-65ft on most turns rather steeply.

BRC riding portion day 1 was about four hours of training in increasingly heavier rain before too much standing water developed. The remainder of the day was review and the knowledge test. Riding portion day 2 & riding test has been pushed back due to course is now a pond.

Non-Course-Related Lessons thus far:

so i went downstairs to have a smoke and chanced a glance down the street to where my bike was parked. at first i saw no bikes and had an "oh shit" moment where i thought it got stolen, but then i saw one sitting on the sidewalk. i walked up a little worried, but relieved until i got to it.

it's fucked, m8s. someone obviously SLAMMED into it (from the wrong side of the road it looks like). steering column lock is obviously broken, wheel is out of line with forks, which themselves are bent. ALL plastics are fucked and there's a bunch of paint transfer on a bunch of right-side engine components. rear wheel alignment looks fine but it's kind of hard to tell in the dark.

i bought it brand new (yeah, i'm a cuck) for cash less than a year ago for around $8.5. how likely is it they're going to total it if frame and internal engine components end up checking out?

it needs a complete front end rebuild, nothing is likely salvageable.
