The NB has a big aftermarket compared to many other cars. From what I've seen the bigger aftermarket for NA parts are mostly aesthetics. Also my NB came with VVT, 6 speed, torsen, better subframes and stronger body.

Coming from an NA owner: I would have an NB right now if they were a little cheaper (or if I had a little more money to burn). People like to claim that NA and NB cost the same because the NA is meme taxed, it's just not true. At least in my area. A clean low ish miles NA is like 4-4500, for an equivalent condition NB is going to be at least 5-6000.

NB is objectively better, they can fit more tire under the fenders, vvt, 6 speed, higher tuning potential, etc. All these NA owners think having pop-ups redeems this somehow.

And anyway, theyre 90% the same car, and they're both sub 150 hp nip shitboxes with leaky roofs so shut the fuck up.

I don't like NBs becuase of the obd2. I wanted the oldest possible car with the least features so that I could mess around and do whatever I wanted to it without throwing a CEL making inspection impossible. With no emissions and no obd2 my NA6 is the best Miata.

So, I just did oil/filter/coolant/PS fluid/AC purge/preventative dampener, timing gear, woodruff and crank bolt after the poor girl sat for 2 months due to the AC front bolt going for a walk.
I've had HLA tick occasionally but holy fucking shit it's so loud. I turned it off immediately, but the innernets says 'oh ja das just ze HLA, don't worry keep going till they're quenched with oil' but I'm worried damage was done when the bolt came out.

Can't see any damage, everything seems to run smoothly and the tick is coming from the rearmost part of the engine, so presumably everything is all fine on a non-interference engine.
