While clutch control requires some skill, handbrake start is foolproof. You can do it as slow as you want and even take of with the brake fully engaged if your motor functions are that limited. It's just a matter of remembering simple sequence and if that is too hard you're too stupid to be driving.

So, what's the problem OP?

This is exactly what handbrakes are for. Holds the car in place so you can use your feet for clutch and gas.
Just use a bit more gas than setting off normally.

Last time I had trouble with a hill start was when learning to ride a motorcycle, operating the clutch and gas with hands instead of feet, and with a gearbox that didn't like first gear.
Stalled twice, then took off like a rocket after losing patience with the bullshit.

oh wow it's fucking nothing after the first week of manual

seriously you meme shits don't even own cars, as anyone who has ever been in one for more than 15 seconds would be able to tell you, if you're not holding down the clutch as pictured and you're in first and come to a stop then you're going to immediately stall. You don't hold clutch down either, you go into neutral and hold the brake until you're done stopping, this is why you're having to replace your clutch every 5 months.

Hilariously on most manual cars they don't label the centre as "N" so you get people who think they HAVE to stay in first when stopped.

Even if you're a complete newfag driving manual you can just cheat with the handbrake until you've got it down. Of course the average poster of this pic leaves a MT car parked with no handbrake and then after it's gone basically just says "I guess it ran away"

i dont understand this thread

if you stop at hill just put neutral and use hand brake

when light goes green, push clutch, engage first gear, release handbrake gradually as you start to release clutch and pushing throtle

they teach this in driving school, right? at least they do around here

But you should put handbrake on, set clutch and gas to appropriate levels, wait until the amber light (or for the car in front of you to move away), and then drop the handbrake completely in one motion.
>>

Just bring your clutch up enough to keep you in place, then swap your right foot from the brake to the accelerator. Unless you have a really weak first gear, most cars can hold themselves in place on a hill with just the clutch.

>>
>>15965441

My 2011 Audi A4 2.0T 6 Speed has this.

There are 2 different "hill assist" features in the car. When you feather the clutch from a stop, it engine automatically revs up 400RPM to prevent stalling. The parking brake "button" will disengage once you generate enough forward momentum, giving you the most optimal hill start from a stop.

>unsynchronized gearbox
That's not what I'm talking about. You would have to double clutch for that anyway.

You use heel-toe to blip the throttle so its smoother and easier on the gearbox.

in a 25 hp car it might be a thing. My mom and dad(I'm american) both talked about using the handbrake on hills and doing some crazy steps instead of letting the clutch out while you put your foot on the gas when you release the brake.
as someone with a v8 you just let the clutch out and go up the hill.

There's no need to hold the break when you have released the clutch because the car already starts pulling forward before giving any gas. If you keep holding the break after you release the clutch you will kill the engine.
