True, but normal car loans range anywhere from 1%-3% for people with decent credit, which is about what you could reasonably expect for a return on any moderately sane investment. It really doesn't make much sense to take out a loan just so you can break even in the long run.

Now, if you have access to a 0% loan, then it would make sense to take the loan instead of buying outright. Pretty much no matter what you put your money in, you'll be making money on that loan vs buying it outright.
